Stopped for lunch in pretty Burford. Quite a few options but opted for this pub. Nice cosy bar area but busy so ate in the conservatory which is fine but light and not quite as atmospheric. Friendly service although a little slow. Main gripe is paying over £18 for a couple of baguettes and a bottle... read more

We love this pub and visit regularly for a meal and to listen to the live music on a Friday evening which is varied and has a really good atmosphere. We have had Sunday lunch which was excellant and regularly try the specials and have always had a fab meal, staff are really friendly and this pub has a great... More

We went in The Mermaid for late lunch and drinks. We all had ham and cheese in French bread which were very good. We also had loads to drink with bottles of wine and beers. In the evening we went back to hear the music they had put on. Good evening had by all.

We enjoyed a tasty lunch in the conservatory, warming up next to the log burner. Good choices, attentive staff and comfortable surroundings.

The Mermaid is an attractive old inn in the centre of picturesque Burford. We ate upstairs on a cold January night our table by a window watching it snowing outside. There were only a few other customers on this Tuesday evening. The young waitress was very friendly and efficient. I had the rump steak with a stilton sauce, mushrooms, onion rings,... More

Four of us enjoyed our evening meal here on a Saturday night. On arrival we were offered a window table or a table upstairs with other diners. We chose the more private spot downstairs and immediately the portable heater was turned up and directed towards us making us pleasantly cosy on one of the coldest nights of the year. Throughout... We read the menus at lunchtime and already knew in our minds what we would order, so we booked a table for dinner and were really looking forward to our evening meal. The bar downstairs was busy with a darts match and we were shown upstairs to the pleasant restaurant. We didn't want wine but ordered an apple juice and... More

5 of us ate here for my Dad's birthday. Either had the roast or steak and ale pie. All food delicious and lots of it. The desert menu looked very tempting but we we so full from the main course we had to give it a miss. The staff very helpful allowing us to move tables as where we originally... More

After reading a review recently which slated this pub/ restaurant and reading the disparity of other reviews we decided to try it out! As soon as we entered the pub we were greeted with a very warm welcome and smile. We ordered the meal which was beef and ale pie ( we ordered this especially as it was criticised) it... More

Doing the tourist thing with visiting family ,we walked in to The Mermaid Inn with no local knowledge. We were immediately greeted by friendly staff who showed us to the dinning area to the back of the pub, with a wood burning stove warming the room , it was a pleasant place to sit. The staff were very attentive and... More
