A restaurant that promises a lot and delivers very little. We turned up for lunch and were pleased to see that the chef was from The Ivy but we were so disappointed. I ordered the minute steak and it was so awful that I took one mouthful and put the rest in my handbag. I ate the 'oven' chips but... More

We booked a table for lunch as we wanted somewhere not too far from Burford where we could park easily and which had enough menu choices to cater for a non- meat eater. Turned out an excellent choice. Friendly welcome on arrival by I assume the owner, drinks offered straight away and then shown to our table in the quite... More

We were in the area for a weekend, we came across a sign for the Rose and Crown, we walked 1.5 miles to taste the local ale, and what a pleasant place this is, the girl behind the bar was friendly polite greeted us when we walked in.. She was also taking bookings for the restaurant as well as serving... More

We went to R&C to see Quo drummer, John Coghlan play with his band in his local. Great atmosphere, great staff and all round lovely afternoon/evening at this lovely pub! Beautiful setting, highly recommended!

An excellent pub with friendly and helpful staff. The small dining room serves excellent food cooked on the premises. A great atmosphere. It was all very civilised. We ate there three times during our week long stay in the area. I would love to go back.

Visited R&C with friends on Thursday 22 Aug. As soon as we walked in we were pleasantly greeted by the bar staff. The place was fairly busy and the atmosphere was lovely. Quickly shown to our tables and immediately our drinks order was taken, the very friendly owner came across and chatted to us which was a nice touch. We... More

Having tramped across the fields (rained on) and arrived just before evening meal service (7pm) with 2 wet muddy dogs and walking boots full of field we were welcomed anyway into the bar. The pie was tasty (although I like pastry all round rather than just on top - think that's a northern thing :) and the duck was very... More

Whether we've booked for a celebration meal or are having an impromptu treat, the quality of service and delicious, fresh food here can be relied upon. The staff are all most welcoming and the selection of local real ales and fine wines mean it is also a lovely pub to simply pop into for a drink.

My wife and I booked a Sunday lunch with our daughter and son-in-law during a visit to the Cotswolds and after reading about the Rose and Crown in the Sunday Telegraph. Set in a lovely village, we were immediately impressed by the welcome afforded to us by a man, whom we presumed to be the owner, and his staff. The... More

We called into this place yesterday right on the cut off point for lunchtime food, the chap behind the bar "allowed" us to order but we had to be quick, his attitude made us feel like a nuisance so we ordered just to be a nuisance!!. I ordered a Ham, egg and chips and my wife ordered a steak and... More
