Good food slow service

Visited here at the weekend and was met slowly by staff who seemed in no rush to seat us despite the restaurant being half empty. Given only a drinks menu instead of a food menu we went up to have a look what food was on offer. We both opted for ham and cheese croissant once the waitress finally... read more

Being a local in Burford I find this hard to write however I was truly disappointed in what appeared in front of my eyes this morning...having arrived and being seated by a pleasant young guy we were offered menus, after a few minutes a waitress then took our order...a cappuccino, green tea...eggs Royale and toast with marmalade...so far so good...its... We are local and popped in for a coffee to take away. The floor was dirty, the seats were stained and the staff walked around as if in a trance. They were incredibly slow and unhelpful - a take away coffee took 10 minutes to make. Whilst there I popped to the loo and it was FILTHY - the sink... More

I 've been a regular at the Burford Maison Blanc for some years. A cosy place to meet for coffee and to work in (I am a writer). I am fond of it especially as Burford is limited in its choice of decent cafes. Many of the young people serving are charming, the coffee and pastries are usually good. However... More

Having been sent by staff to seat ourselves we waited 5 minutes for them to remember to come over and take our order. After a further 20 minute wait we enquired where our order was only to be told that they had forgotten about our order completely... At this stage we left.

Disappointed at the 3 stars awarded by the FSA but entered anyway. Our table was sticky and as we were sat the staff member quickly swiped the crumbs of the table! Our hot chocolate was ok and the cakes just ok. The place inside was a little shabby and wouldn't go back I'm afraid

I was shocked by how dirty this café was - the tables were sticky, for a start. When we were served, the teapot was covered in stains - including a great line of muck around the rim and down the front of the pot under the spout (see photo). Furthermore, the lid was cracked, which is a big no-no in... More

We've been visitors to this Burford branch since it opened. It now seems to be trading on it's name alone. The lovely patisserie ( delivered from outside ) is let down by the general mismanagement of this branch. The list of complaints is a long one for just one visit - dirty stained cups which we asked to have replaced,... More

As much as I dislike writing bad reviews, on balance, I have never really felt totally welcome here. Yesterday was no exception, I wasn't seen to a seat, had to ask for a menu, had to ask to be served, and two people who came in ten minutes after me got served before I did and asked if they wanted...
