Lunch

Visited for lunch today. Very poor chicken sandwich - processed chicken. Expected more from here. Fish cake was good but thought something else would come with it for the price of the dish - salad dressing wasn't to my taste! Staff were attentive & our waitress was friendly but I don't expect... read more

We tried this a couple of times and were disappointed.l Apparently the only connection with Raymond Blanc is the name. Even the French Onion Soup was poor.l Tourist Trap, best avoided.

Visited for Sunday breakfast as it was the only cafe open. Was shocked by the exterior appearance with dirty, flaking paint on the window frames ( I have seen a review for April 2014 with a similar comment. The manager did respond saying that new decoration was iminent, but obviously still waiting over a year later) We sat inside but... More

Perfectly placed at the top of hill in Burford. I found the place lovely and bright and definitely clean inside. The staff behind the counter were all smiling which is a good sign. Once seated we waited to be served, and waited and waited. In a restaurant that had two other tables approx five other customers it was hard to... More

Had a sausage roll and a chicken sandwich, both really fresh and served by lovely staff, very clean and modern, it was the only place busy which is why we eat there.

We had a lovely afternoon tea accompanied by a nice glass of fizz. Cakes were delicious and staff were wonderful. The only reason why I haven't given it 5 stars is because the outdoor seating is on a hill and so table was not stable enough to put our glasses of champagne down on it.

Perhaps because of the Blanc name I expected a superior experience, but it is just an average coffee & cake shop. The staff were very pleasant, but the overall experience was nothing special.

Burford isn't exactly bursting with decent quality tea shops so MB is frequently quite busy being one of the best. Great pastries and cakes with a good varied breakfast and lunch menu, the young staff there are friendly and welcoming which is why I and a good number of other locals make it a regular stop (given I see many... We had a quick impromptu lunch here this week and it was enjoyable. We've been to the one in Oxford several times but this was the first visit here. We had goats cheese quiche, which was tasty, and accompanied by a nicely dressed salad and a really decent cup of coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The coffee and cake was lovely, but the dust on the shelfs and bottles on them.. And then I went to the loos not clean and the hand dryer was useless, what a pity just a dam good clean. Then you start to think about the kitchen which you can't see.

I am the manager of Maison Blanc in Burford and you are entirely right, there was a lot of dust which is unacceptable. I have since dusted my shop before reading this review, so I apologise that this put you off your visit. Please accept my full personal apologies and I hope you will visit us again soon.
