Huffkins is a bit unusual. We are an independent family business with our own craft bakery and a heritage that stretches back to 1890. Established in Burford, at the heart of the Cotswolds, by Mr Titcombe our breads and cakes were originally delivered by donkey and cart. Given the impracticalities of donkeys we have modernised some things over the years - but we still bake everything by hand. Our bakers work through the night to create everything from the bread for our sandwiches to the fresh cream cakes in our shops. We believe very firmly in sourcing ingredients locally wherever possible. Now whilst there is clearly not an abundance of tuna fish in the local rivers there are surprisingly few things that do not grow in the Cotswolds. And when we do grow something it tends to be good. Very good in fact. Our chefs take a keen interest in every ingredient that enters our kitchens from field to plate. So when, for instance, you ask for a sausage bap at Huffkins you can expect Cotswold pork sausages made by WJ Castles of Burford to our own traditional recipe in a handmade bap from our bakery made with FWP Matthew's flour from Shipton under Wychwood, served with Huffkins spicy tomato ketchup made at our own kitchen in Stow-on-the-Wold. We believe in real Cotswold food. Even our teas, which we buy directly from the finest small producers around the world are blended with local ingredients including Cotswold fruits and lavender from Snowshill near Broadway. The only thing we cannot get to grow locally is good staff - so regrettably you are stuck with whatever we could find. Many have been with us an awfully long time. Too long perhaps. Yet all jokes apart many of the team hold awards for 3, 5, 10 and even 15 years of service. Just look out for coloured lapel pins if you fancy spotting the old-timers.

Lovely tea!

We have been to this place for a warm drink and it was totally worth it. They have a vast selection of cakes and bakeries and the interior is cozy. They also have sandwiches so it is ok for a quick lunch. Overall, however, pastries were not so great. Very good, but not the best I had.

Wonderful pastries, excellent coffee, superb location on Burford High Street - and very considerate, hardworking staff. The courtyard at the side/back is a marvellous place to sit in the sun, enjoy your food and drink, admire the Cotswold stone walls at either side, and watch the jackdaws. We come back every year, and are never disappointed. England at its best!... More

I can only speak to the bakery goods. And the bakery goods were GOOD! Best cream filling ever! And to think, another location of this place is around the corner from where we were staying and we never darkened the door. A mistake!

Popped in for a quick lunch and had a very tasty visit. Both of us opted for the soup and sandwich for £9.95 and had a lovely bowl of homemade tomato and basil soup with a chicken and bacon sandwich with black pepper mayo, made with great quality bacon and moist chicken. All in all a good lunch

We stopped in Burford at lunchtime on our way to Cornwall and dropped in to Huffkins for a bite to eat. Like all such places in the Cotswolds at this time of year it was pretty full and both kitchen and waiting staff were plainly overstretched. Although polite, the service was painfully slow and not compensated for by the quality... More

I have been here many times with my mother and on every occasion we have had great service and great food, the lovely bakery next door sells a lovely variety of cakes and breads and it also does a take away service if you don't have time to relax and people watch while you eat in the main cafe, I... We came here for lunch exhausted after a sleepless night at The Kings Head in Bledington, what a contrast, it made our day. Absolutely spoilt rotten. Gorgeous afternoon tea, warm bacon in the chicken and bacon sandwiches even! Guidance given on the tea 'girlie' - it smelled and tasted fantastic. Wish we could have stayed around a bit later into... We had to have a cream tea somewhere in the Cotswolds and we were quite pleased we chose this place. We had two very delicious scones with clotted cream and jam. The cream was absolutely amazing. Such a wide range selection of teas as well. Highly recommended!

There must be few, if any, tea rooms with the pedigree of Huffkins which has provided refreshments for over 100 years. The standards of all produce is top rate and you can get everything from breakfast to tea and everything in between. A true gem.
