Description: CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE - *Our opening hours are incorrectly listed on this site, with TripAdvisor seemingly unable to change them! Please visit our website for our correct opening hours* The Larder serves classic and more modern British dishes with the best seasonal ingredients. The aim is to use the finest of what the region offers, when it’s in season, from the kind of independent producers who have a passion for their specialism. Alongside the daily changing dinner menu and specials there is a range of lesser-known cuts of steak (much of the butchery done in-house)The Larder is located in the Grade 2 listed Victorian building that was once home to Jesse Boot's first apothecary in Nottingham city centre. The small herbalist’s shop moved and eventually became pharmaceutical giant Boots but the beautiful turn-of-the-century interiors remain. The Larder restaurant now sits above the vibrant city quarter of Hockley, a stone's throw from the popular Broadway arts cinema and various boutiques and cafes. The airy dining room with its floor-to-ceiling windows is both elegant and informal – The Larder offers good food in a relaxed environment.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday meal out, and he wisely chose to book in advance requesting a table with a window seat. The restaurant is located upstairs on the first floor of the building, and has lovely floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a nice view of the surrounding architecture and is perfect for people-watching in the busy street... My girlfriend and I visited The Larder on Goosegate for the first time in a few years recently and I'm happy to say this visit outshone the last quite drastically. From the moment we stepped in from the rain the service the from the maître d' was absolutely first class, the perfect mixture of friendly attentiveness and assured recommendations. Whilst... More

Have eaten at The Larder several times on business & most recently to celebrate a family graduation. Very surprised to see it 140th in Nottingham: who decides that?! Never had a bad meal (or bad course). On my most recent visit went for fish instead of the inevitable steak (diet), wasn't disappointed. Probably the best piece of fish I've ever... More

This was the first time wed been to the Larder for a couple of years. The service was still as random and slow as ever. We were actually sitting next to the service point by as in previous visits the staff chat away there without engaging with the tables even though for us there was at least 30 minutes after... More

Came on a reasonably quiet midweek night with my partner and two friends. The food was lovely and fairly priced with good choice of steaks. However, perhaps we caught I assume the manager on a bad night....a young blonde lady? Around 10 we and one other table were left and it was made clear that we had outstayed our welcome... More

Visiting family in Nottingham we booked an early Saturday evening meal at the Larder for four people. We were very impressed with the relaxing environment, friendly and helpful staff and great food at a great price. We all enjoyed different courses. I would recommend for starter the heritage beetroot & carrot, herb marinated feta, candied pecans, for main the wild... More

I entered this half full Restaurant this evening without a reservation, not uncommon for the city dweller. Sat on a lovely table by a young lady who I quickly realised was playing a spinning plates game to the very best of her ability. This however came at a price. Small service issues became apparent and it was clear some were... More

Visit the restaurant with friends for lunch. The decoration and atmosphere are nice. The drink menu is good as that provide not only the normal lager but also a series of individual brewers. The food is simple and good, even some of them have a small portion. Worth to try set menu next time.

We came here as a group of 20. We ordered the food ahead of schedule and all was fine. Food is ok but I feel they are trying so hard. The issue came with the bill when they suddenly decided that they hadn't charged us enough for the set menu and after a long and protracted discussion existed we all... More
