A return visit after many years

It was a sudden decision to go to Saagar this evening and I am pleased to say we were not disappointed. It was a very pleasantly relaxing meal. The food was good and tasty, the service was friendly and efficient. There was an offer to have a free starter when you ordered a main course and we were... read more

What a pity. The food is OK, but the service is bordering on rude. It isn't unreasonable to ask that plates are put down on the table rather than at a jaunty angle leaning on other dishes and that waiters don't reach across from the left to put down a dish on the right of a female customer. Not a... More

As I approached it looked small and nice. I entered to a worm welcome. As we sat Down they came to use very fast, we ordered and after about 20-30 minutes the food came it lacked presentation but tasted very nice. Over all saagars food was nice and I would recommend it

We ate here on Saturday night, spur of the moment decision. We had a lovely meal and would definitely recommend. We even took a doggy bag home because we didn't want to waste the delicious food!

We have visted Saagar on about half a dozen occasions, but have found our experience gradually less and less enjoyable. A constant throughout has been the freezing temperatures - on our last visit I had to keep my overcoat on, and I'm someone who normally PREFERS lower temperatures, especially when dining. The decor is old fashioned and the whole place... More

when walking towards this restaurant it looks very welcoming. On entering its the same , bright warm and clean. When being shown to my table the first thing you notice is the red coat the waiter has on it needs ironing and washing. Menu given and you notice the prices are high ( £9:90 for the meal plus rice at... More

Have eaten here for many years, the food always excellent. Not overly friendly staff (!) but food has never disappointed, until recently. The last three meals, including one takeaway have been very lacking. All rather tasteless and this evening I didn't even want a doggy bag! What on earth as happened? The front staff are the same, I'm assuming there... More

Top quality food that never disappoints - lamb tandoori best ever! No nonsense decor, but still authentic feel to the restaurant. Good choice of dishes and generous portions - nothing changes after 30 years of visiting!!

A warm welcome is guaranteed by proprietor Peter or one of his team at the Saagar. With an enviable reputation locally, and a loyal following of very regular customers, this is a step up from a curry house to a 'proper' restaurant. Very clean and well presented with good quality table linen and cutlery, as seems customary with Indian and... More

I live in a city of great curries and don't usually need to spend a lot of money to get good food. Takeaways from here are a proper treat. But the food is very good and there is tons of it, a meal for two easily feeds three, four if you aren't too greedy.
