This is a traditional restaurant and I hope it never changes. Photos on the wall shows it going back many years. Very relaxing, we love it.

The Saagar often gets neglected in reviews but it is a gem of an Indian. Located in Sherwood about a mile north of the city, it looks like many suburban curry houses with kitsch decor of Clive of India and 'Mrs Clive' However, it's the food that you come for. It's more expensive than many Nottingham Curry Houses but the... More

Got a takeaway on a Friday night. King prawns were tough as old boots! Both dishes under seasoned and tasteless. Was really disappointed. As it was a takeaway couldn't be bothered to complain, just won't go again.

Booked a table for 2 and said we'd be there in 15 minutes, the guy didnt seem very enthusiastic but confirmed the reservation. So we got in a taxi, spent £10 getting there- half way there another guy called back to say that they had been closed for half an hour and his colleague had made a mistake. I guess... More

If you are looking for the best quality Indian food in the Nottingham area then a visit to the Saagar is a must. The quality of food is outstanding, not the cheapest Indian you will find but certainly the best. We used to go at least once a month but since prices were increased and recently retired this is now... More

Great food. We also got a take away here for my mum's birthday - there were a large group of us so we ordered 2 of the set menus at £60 each and they gave us an extra box with wine, chocolate and extra bits! Amazing food and a great added extra.

Had a lovely meal here on a stag weekend in march. Nice atmosphere, great choice on menu. Nice staff, if a bit noisy when boss is not around. I had a shared starter for two, followed by the hottest curry on the menu with a nice choice of sides. Less than £20 each with complimentary dessert. Would definitely recommend.

Have been here before and loved it, but tonight, poor welcome, poor service and unfortunately poor food!!! Tables around us were brought complimentary desserts, but by the time we had finished our main, there were 2 or 3 couples waiting for tables, so we were brought the bill, not brought a complimentary dessert (not that I wanted one) or even... For many years I used to rate the Saagar but visiting after a break of 4 years or so I visited again. I can't say it was particularly good. I'm vegetarian and usually order the vegetarian thali. I usually expect a good mix of dals, rice and breads, with a few interesting dips. The tadka dal looked and tasted a... More
