Visited here last Sunday. Saw that they did a Sunday roast, and after having a totally atrocious roast the last time I was in this neck of the woods (at the Golden Fleece) I though I'd give it a try and see how it was. It was roast lamb, nicely cooked and served a little pink - which I really... More

Nice friendly pub, spilt between two levels, with pleasant patio area. Great selection of ales and ciders. Had a very enjoyable lunch, from a good menu. Worth a visit.

Never disappointed with the Poachers. It is being renovated and looking very smart . A wide range of local and not so local real ales and cider - a proper pub.

Good beer and a cob in a proper pub. As a CAMRA member just had to stop for a quick one at lunchtime. Does not look much from the street but worth calling in. The beers I tried were well kept.

I was attending at a music gig further along Mansfield Road - The Maze, a part of The Forest Tavern... also a Castle Rock Public House. Behind this modest frontage is a pub with so many beers and wines that you take forever to make up your mind. The barman suggested a fruity red, and for £12 it was exceptional... More

Bangers and mash alongside several pints broke the day up nicely. Loved the pork scratchings too. Nice pub at the end of a street next to the train line which was surprising crowded for a mid week lunch. One of my brother-in-laws haunts.

I drive past this place everyday and have always fancied calling in after reading about the wide range of real ales and malt whiskies they do. I went today for the first time for a couple of pints and I was impressed. I'll definitely be visiting again some time soon. Nice place.

This was my first visit and from the road I would not have expected the range of beers and wines available. Some really quirky ones including pineapple beer and chocolate and vanilla stout. Great prices too. Atmosphere is quite noisy - probably because of the very strong beers! But generally friendly. Great for a night out on Mansfield road without... More

Food is what you hope for out of a pub, very good home made food with a traditional pub grub feel. The staff and locals are all fine and recommend it for anyone.
