Proper pub

Our second visit to this excellent pub. A warm welcoming place which has cleverly kept that pub feel while serving good food. There's is nothing precious here but good service, food and some fine real ales. If only all pubs could manage this....

It's a couple of years since I last reviewed the Staunton Arms although I've eaten there on several occasions during that time. This pub is the epitome of what a good village pub should be. It never fails to please with a wonderful ambience, rooms which I am told are most comfortable, excellent food created and served by Julian and... More

Two of us stopped for lunch on a sunny day cycling sortie and enjoyed excellent food and beer in a splendid country inn. The extensive menu had choices to suit everyone and every appetite, the marvellous and well presented food arrived quickly, served by a friendly waitress. Well done The Staunton Arms !

I stayed here for one night on Saturday 28th March as I had come to Nottinghamshire for a friend's birthday celebrations. I had a very well furnished and comfortable room and had a lovely full English breakfast on the Sunday morning. I came back a few hours later after checking out as a party of 14 for my friend's birthday... More

I had heard mixed reviews about this place: thankfully they were unfounded. Great food, good portion sizes and lots of other things I wanted to try; will definitely go again.

Take our advice. If you've a long trek up or down the A1, you could do a lot worse than take a short detour to the Staunton Arms. It's a large pub in a small village with a large car park and lots of tables. The pub is a delightful place, very comfortable and traditional feeling. The landlord and staff... More

We've not been for a while and found ourselves in the area needing to kill some time. The food is still delicious and the fire was nice and warm on a chilly evening. Free WiFi and friendly staff are also a bonus :-)

We went there for Mothering Sunday with all the family. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It was all beautifully cooked, and the portions were excellent.

I liked the Stanton years ago before the excellent makeover a number of years ago. I think this an almost perfect example of what a twenty first century country pub should be. The decor is very pleasant but still clearly a pub. I guess locals feel happy in the bar just for drinks whilst diners have a number of well... More
