I went to French Living yesterday for dinner with extremely high expectations. It is indeed a cozy little place with a lovely ambience and warm welcoming staff. It immediately struck a good first impression, its a perfect place for that special ‘first date.’ What followed were series of disappointing gastronomical blunders. I was in a mood of eating something light... More

As you may now know from my previous responses, I get seriously worried when I see a review that starts with "extremely high expectations". Entering a restaurant with expectations like this, rather than with a free, relaxed desire to enjoy your evening, is a recipe for disappointment. I am afraid to inform you that there were no blunders served to... More

I went to French Living yesterday evening for an early dinner with my daughter. I have been eating at this restaurant since it first opened, although I confess I haven't been that much recently. It has always been one of my favourite places to eat in Nottingham, however, I was surprised at how mediocre it was last night. We sat... More

Really sorry to read this review. Glad to hear you allowed us to rectify the temperature of your main dish. I will have another taste of the terrine - last time I tried, it was admittedly firm textured, but this is what you would expect from venison. You don't specify the dessert so I can't verify why you would label... More

I went for lunch to French Living today with an other adult and my 3 year old daughter. Fast service and delicious food. The best French cuisine in Nottingham.

This certainly does not sound like French Living. There was clearly something amiss here! Audrius, our trustworthy, conscientious restaurant manager of almost 18 years, soon clarified the matter. He openly and very honestly admitted that he had made a mistake with your table, becoming distracted by a number of events on a very busy service, and forgetting to send your... More

I've eaten at French Living many times before and adored the food and the atmosphere, so I was really looking forward to dining here to celebrate my birthday. Because we were a party of 13, we were asked to pay a deposit of £5 per head and pre order our meal choices, which we did a week in advance. We... More

I feel the headline for your review should read - "French Living's computer not up to its usual high standards". Our computer crashed unfortunately during this service which meant that the kitchen was not receiving orders in the usual way, which in turn created big delays. Audrius did apologise and let you know about this difficulty. Scallops and seafood in... More

Me and my wife visited here after deciding to try something different for my birthday. All we can say is it is a fantastic little restaurant. We were giving the option where to sit and we choose to sit downstairs. Our drinks order was taken straight away and we looked at the menu. Both of us ate of the set... More

We've been to this restaurant many times over the past few years and have always been impressed. The food, service and atmosphere have always been excellent. However, we went there yesterday and were really disappointed. Firstly, we were given a table in the basement restaurant. In the past, this has always been a reasonable place to eat. However, last night... More

Very often, you will find that restaurant's standards fluctuate and vary because of changes in ownership, or most frequently, because of chefs moving on. It is a business sector that experiences extremely high staff turnover. In the case of French Living, Stephane and I created this business in 1994, and our head chef Jeremy came over from France in 1996... More

we were just having dinner in the french living with business. Service is very good.. kind people.. ambiance is ok.. small tables but nice. From the food i was a bit disapointed, because the Ratatouille was done too much.. the meat with sauce was ok, but not special. Same was for the "Escargots".. the green sauce was not really tasty.... Have been going to French Living for over 20 years for Saturday lunches, special occasions and discovery evenings. Food is always of a excellent standard, the sauces are especially good, my favourites meals are the duck and the wild boar. Good selection of wine to complement the food.
