The food was good. The staff were friendly and apologised for being slow even though they were not and let me have my cider for free.

Food was absolutely fantastic and so pleased I found this place. I stay in Nottingham a lot on my own for work and wandered in on a beautiful day after I couldn't get a table at another french restaurant close by. This place is chic and quirky decor, fantastic staff and food is beyond words. I am so fussy that... More

Great atmosphere, very attentive service and lovely meals. Not quite France, but pretty close! Great to get a real Cafe Gourmand in the U.K. Merci beaucoup - can you please open up another in Chester? Nottingham is just a tad too far ;)

Our party of 4 dined here on Saturday night following a late cancellation of our table at another restaurant. The meals were excellent - portions just right - house wine delicious. Highly recommend. Although - watch you bill - 10% discretionary(!) service charge automatically added! Yes the service was good - but no more than you should expect in a... More

The food and service at this restaurant were second to none and I could not recommend it more. It felt authentic from the moment I entered, through to every dish they served. Well done.

We've been impressed with the cuisine, the friendliness, atmosphere and location of this wonderful little bistro for nearly a decade. It is terrific and we would give it a top ten rating for all of the hundreds of restaurants and pubs serving food in the City. The value is tremendous!

This was my first visit. The tables are on the ground floor making it easy for the disabled. A real plus point. I chose a three course from the pre-theatre menu, starting with Calamari, followed by chicken in a herb sauce (the sauce was divine!). Desert was a special on the day, of chopped strawberries in a coulis, which was... More

We eat here on a regular basis and decided to bring a friend from Sweden for lunch. We had the three course set menu. If there is better value locally for less than £14 We would love to hear about it. The usual high quality, generous main courses and crème brulee to die for. The house wines are carefully chosen... My wife and I were taken here for our birthdays by our son (though we have been many times before - makes a change not paying!). The food remains excellent. I had some succulent mussels in a creamy sauce as a starter, followed by cassoulet, and then cheese. We managed to get a seat downstairs; if you get the chance,... More

We booked a table for two in celebration of my birthday. They had confirmed our reservation yet on arrival didn't have our details. We felt very unwelcome and in retrospect should have left at that point. We were sat on a very wonky table in the corner. Ordered from the Gastronomique set menu. Starter was average, main of venison was... More

Everyone who visits French Living is VERY welcome. Bookings made on-line come through to us by email and I suspect Stephane (my forgetful husband) omitted to transfer your booking into the main reservations book. I apologise to you on his behalf. It is interesting how this first impression of neglect then went on to affect your entire experience. Thankfully you... More
