We have been regulars at this restaurant over many years. The food has always been good. The prices reasonable for Japanese cuisine and the wine list is oustanding for a small restaurant and in value. Service on past occasions has sometimes been a little slow. On this occasion, a Friday night, our experience was disastrous. We arrived on time and our table... More

The food is just fabulous, honestly. The problem is the price, I think it is probably worth it because the ingredients are quality (the teriyaki steak and the scallop kabayaki would be my choice for a last meal) but it seems off kilter with the restaurant setting. Maybe it is shallow of me but if I am paying 75 plus... More

This is a family run restaurant and has a genuine welcome for its guests. It doesnt do the brash teppanyaki displays but does do good quality sushi, soups and stews. The atmosphere is that of a family restaurant, with no brash music, no loud parties, just the hum of people talking and enjoying themselves. There is certainly no rush for you... More

I like Lenton, don't know why - maybe a hark back to my student days. This restaurant is probably a little out of the student price range, but it is a really nice little hidden oasis with really nice food - great one for a night out with your mates - not the loud ones.

Iv been to higoi for special occasions a few times now and we've had delicious sushi every time. It's not too very cheap but you get what you pay for. There are so many places that have very unimaginative sushi menus but the sushi menu at higoi has some interesting and delicious combinations. Great place!

I went to Higoi last night, my husband wasn't in town so I decided to grab a nice book and give this little restaurant a try. I was greeted by a very nice lady who showed me to the table: she then asked if it was ok for me, as it was a proper Japanese style table, low and with... More

Mrs Badger is an aficionado of all things Japanese so it's surprising it took us this long to visit Higoi. I just hope a return trip isn't as long coming as it is a crackingly authentic restaurant with a great selection of dishes. Thankfully Mrs B steered us through the menu but I've no doubt the friendly staff would help... More

We ate here with 4 visitors from Japan and they said the food was really good and very authentic. The sashimi was amazing and really fresh and the cooked food was very tasty. Worth booking as the restaurant is quite small and fills up quickly.

Charming little Japanese restaurant in Lenton. Had a thoroughly pleasant evening meal here. Apart from one hand roll that we had to send back, everything else we ordered was really very yummy! We tried several different rolls, all of which was very good. I have had better sushi and one could argue that this place is a bit pricey for... More
