What a lovely French meal we had here one evening when in Hexham recently. The restaurant was an easy walk from Market Square. We ate a la carte so a bit more expensive. Our starters were French Onion soup and Tartiflette with reblochon cheese and a glass of wine each to match. We followed with confit duck, cabbage with lardons... More

I have been to Bouchon several times. The food has always been delightful, well cooked and fresh. The restaurant itself is clean and decorated to a high standard. HOWEVER: Upon my most recent visit I arrived at the venue at 13:50...I was informed that I would be unable to order food, by a rather surly and dismissive server, even though... More

Went here for a romantic meal with my husband and went off Trip Advisor ratings. Service perfect... Not rushed but not too slow, and the staff very keen to please but not overly so. Soup was delicious, but the main course of monkfish was a little bland, but more disappointingly really not hot enough. I think perhaps it was because... More

Together with family and friends, seven of us celebrated an 88th birthday with lunch here. The restaurant is decorated in French country style with French staff and a French chef. Three excellent courses, with a good choice for each, for £14.95, served with speed and style by a young man from Tours called Matthew. We shall definitely return here!

This has to be one of my favourite restaurants! Had another great night there to celebrate a promotion with family. Food was great, particularly the duck for main and white chocolate mousse for desert. Had food envy for starter as I had charcuterie and brother-in-law had the goats cheese. Relaxed environment and enough time between courses to ensure that you... More

When up in the North East visiting family, my sister booked us in to Bouchon to celebrate my husband's promotion. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The staff were very friendly and within moments of being seated we had ordered our drinks (there was a good selection of wines). Perusing the menu took some time... More

We had 2 courses on the menu de jour at £16.95 which was great value and provided just the right amount of food for a lunch where you didn't have to go and lie down afterwards. I had confit belly pork and Mr T had steak frites both very tasty. However it was the puddings that wowed. I remember the... More

We got the feeling that the management had the policy or 'Give them a little as we can for the money!' The food was just OK but mean and a bit different to what the menu said. Vegetable side was just cubes of root veg with a few green beans, cauliflower, not very nice. We have had much better meals... More

Three of us had another lovely evening at Bouchon. The food is superb, and of course French . What made the evening was our young French waiter who was brilliant. He could have served us beans on toast and we would have felt well looked after! as it was he served us delicious food and great wine with complete professionalism.... More
