Food , mediocre, ALL over cooked, & for THAT price would expect perfection, second time I have been, first was just as bad! Waiter trying to take my plate away when I hadn't even finished, menu was boring, snails small chewy , down to being OVER COOKED main course just as bad, only offered one very SMALL bread roll, didn't... We had a delicious meal at Bouchon. The aperitifs of pineau were so lovely and our red wine was so good. Starters of duck and pate were excellent. My main course duck was cooked well and I enjoyed my potato lyonnaise. My husband had steak and he is fussy and said taste was lacking a bit. The real highlight of... More

The food was wonderfully different with starters and mains beautifully cooked and presented. The service was attentive and relatively quick although we did have to wait a little to order due to a whole bunch arriving together. Outside It was a hot and stuffy evening and the restaurant was v warm which didn't help the dining experience even though we... More

Really lovely meal last night, early bird special for a work night out. Food was 10 out of 10 - good ambience, service spot on, not too intrusive but attentive and a dry sense of humour too! Would definitely go again. Only negative comment is that it was too hot upstairs! But then that's never usually a problem in Hexham.

This restaurant was recommended to my husband by one of his golf club friends . So when we had visitors recently we booked for lunch. We all ordered from the set menu and ordered the fish option. The sea trout was delicate and delicious as was the dessert of chocolate cream. With a bottle of house wine, water and coffee... More

Loved the atmosphere. Staff were friendly and service was excellent. Food was delicious - I loved the scallops and also the monkfish cheeks. We were all happy with our choices and were impressed with the wine. Cheeseboard was great with some unusual cheeses all in perfect condition. Bill was reasonable especially compared to some of our more local restaurants in... More

I like food, I'm very fussy an will send back a poor meal, especially if expensive, I've walked out and not paid before so it's like I'm a pushover. I truly don't understand the negative reviews this place gas received. We arrived 30 mins early and were seated straight away, drinks offered immediately, orders taken when I called the maitre'd... We have had a great lunch today to celebrate our daughter graduation. It is often difficult to select a restaurant to satisfy different generations but Bouchon has become our restaurant of choice when celebrating a birthday, Mothers day or whatever. We live much nearer Newcastle but although there are some good places to eat there, none hold a candle to... More

I was a bit worried when I first arrived, they seemed to be trying very hard to be French in a slightly cheesy way - the posters, the accordian music, the quaint old Citroen outside. The room was perhaps a little more formal than is fashionable these days but very comfortable. The menu was very reasurring - French in a... More
