Yum!

We stopped off in Hexham en route from Edinburgh to County Durham and had a meal/drinks in this place. The staff were so warm and friendly. The food was out of this world, presented in a top restaurant way. I'm a dessert fiend and have to say I will have to come back here to sample more of the... read more

After reading a few reviews decided to try it but when we arrived we found it closed with a for sale sign in window

On a recent day trip to Hexham we came across this traditional pub and, sick of the usual Wetherspoon's type fare, decided to try the 'home cooked food' on offer here. Really glad we did - the mince and dumplings was perfect and the portion huge; likewise my omelette was light and fluffy and the chips were real, homecooked, genuine... More

We visited Heart of all England on the May Bank Holiday for lunch after seeing reviews on here. The food was fantastic and there were some lovely choices on the menu and great value also. However, the service was very slow and the staff seemed confused when serving us. The bar didn't seem very busy in terms of numbers of... More

Back again! This time we went en famille for our annual family celebration and we wanted traditional English food. It was perfect, divine, gorgeous yet again and the reason I am adding another review is to add the photos we took of our food. Beautiful and the strawberry shortcake dessert was light and tasty and just melted in the mouth.... More

You would think with a name like this and being in a market town this would be a great market town pub. No, limited food, only one real ale available and tatty inside. I think most people who came in were locals. Perhaps look into its history and put up some tasteful info...obviously not bothered about attracting tourists.

The menu was very limited and so was the choice of beer. There was also not much in the way of atmosphere. The food was quite nice though and reasonably priced.

We went for Tuesday lunch with our 2 children. From the outside it doesn't look much, but the staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. Large portions and very tasty. For the children they offered to cook more or less anything if they could. They said 'just because it's not on the menu, don't be afraid to ask'.... More
