Went with my elderly parents and auntie for lunch here on Monday. Realising it was a Chef and Brewer chain pub I wasn't expecting much from the experience but even with lowered expectations I was still extremely disappointed with both the service and the food. I can see that a number of previous reviewers have commented on the long waiting... More

Let me start with the good stuff......drinks and cask ale and during our visit, we had good friendly bar and food service, unlike a number of others. Unfortunately it was all let down by very and I mean very average food. Starters varied from average to poor with the duck pate from the Game menu being particularly poor, despite being... More

Nice staff, Nice food, Nice wine.......we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. From the starters to the puddings we were impressed. We were a party of seven and some ate from the 'normal' menu, and some from the 'winter game' menu, but everything was really good We were given a lovely table with plenty of space around it.. And it wasn't expensive -... More

Took 3 minutes to be acknowledged while waiting to be seated. Other places have 15 seconds acknowledgement time. Asked to have drink while table prepared, ok , but then waiter did not return so we went to table and waited 20 minutes before order taken and a further 35 minutes for food to arrive. Other customers waiting equally as long.... More

We ate here two nights in a row. The first night, I got the traditional fish and chips. That might have been the largest piece of fish I have ever had. Almost covered the plate. It was so much food that it was more than I can eat. The meal included and appetizer with the special and cost a total... More

We made 12.30 booking for lunch on Sunday just after the new-look Britannia was launched. We were told that they had run out of one of their two soups and that they had sold out of cauliflower cheese and the liver dish ! Not a good start. However, our main courses of steak and lamb were well presented and enjoyable,... More

Visited around a dozen times over the last few years and this place is going downhill. We have had many great meals here but on our last two visits this was not the case. Slipping standards is never good in today's current economic climate. So maybe this place will soon bite the dust. Such a shame.

The staff were very friendly, helpful with suggestions and very very funny. The table was great perfect setting, which gave us a bit of privacy as we caught up in a lovely new decor. They took our drink and food order quickly (huge selection and with a special seasonal list) and even did a double check with the food orders... More

A party of five of us arrived 7.30 on Friday. The restaurant was fairly busy but our drinks order came quite quickly. It was a long wait to order the meal! There were some starters. They took ages to come. I had pate, the toast was stone cold suggesting it had been sitting somewhere waiting to be served. The sauce... More
