10 years ago The Vineyard was a fantastic restaurant, sadly the years have not been kind. I went with a group of friends on Saturday evening for the pre-theatre menu. When we arrived the restaurant was very busy, with three big tables all looking like they were also going to the theatre. Things started ok, we were shown our table... More

We booked the vineyard for dinner before going onto the derngate to watch a show, foolishly thinking that getting there at 6 would give us ample time to eat 2 courses. There were 2 large tables of customers already seated but as there were 3 wait staff, we didn't feel concerned, our mistake. After being ignored for 20 minutes a... More

It was our first visit to The Vineyard tonight, despite walking past many a time. It was a lovely restaurant. Pleasant, friendly staff and on the whole, lovely food. I had the Prawn and Salmon terrine starter, which tasted lovely, but there could have been a little more of it. My better half had the soup of the day; vegetable,... More

Well I wont lie, after reading some of the reviews I was reluctant to take my Partner here for a=our anniversary and considered booking somewhere else. But I genuinely could not have been more pleased. It was a romantic setting with great music and the staff were friendly and welcoming from the start. It just has that old school family... More

Unfortunately, this meal was a gift and so we were reluctant to complain. However, we feel that the proprietor and prospective users should be aware of the failings of this so called restaurant. Our welcome and greeting was sour faced at the kindest. The prawn cocktail starter was adequate, however the fishcake was ugly to look at and both were... More

Unfortunately we chose an evening when a complete idiot and his girlfriend were dining . Their obnoxious behaviour spoilt the evening. But more disappointingly another diner had to ask them to refrain from swearing which should have been the managers job. The staff seemed reluctant to challenge this twit which was s shame. The food was not great with ovecooked... More

We chose here because close to Derngate. Starter of grilled goats cheese and glass of house white acceptable. Main courses - "steak and kidney" - a hard brown rectangle over some brown material with some lumps of meat - all smothered in thick oily gue - vegetables overcooked until shapeless and greasy lumps of potato: my partner had "smoked haddock... Visited again, for a pre theatre dinner this time and as usual had a great experience. Lovely food well prepared, cooked and served and the usual excellent standard of service from everyone. This place really is a little gem and deserves to be considerably higher in the rankings for Northamptonshire than it is.

We visited the Vineyard Thursday 4th September . It is a very convenient place to have an affordable meal before going to the Derngate theatre or after shopping in Northampton. There was a friendly greeting when we arrived and the menu had something for everyone. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it makes a pleasant change from the chain restaurants which... More
