We went by train for 78 Derngate, and had booked at the Dining Room for lunch. We were more or less on time, having walked from the station on such a hot day, and sitting inside in the light and airy dining room was bliss, especially with a pot of Earl Grey tea and a hot water jug of cold... More

Visited on the back of the other reviews and was not disappointed. Lucky for us the sun was out so we sat in the garden and enjoyed the homemade menu. Once the roadworks have finished this will be a hot spot for all occasions.

After hearing so much about this place I had to go and check it out. I loved it! The cute vintage tableware will make you want to recreate the whole experience at home. We made a reservation which is a must as they get booked up. You can make requests to adjust the tea according to your specific dietary requirements... More

Came here with two older family members for a full afternoon tea and I was pleased to say it was most enjoyable. The restaurant is only small but even on a hot and busy afternoon it was comfortable. We had mentioned some food preferences when booking and this had been noted and the food selection changed to suit us. The... More

Went for afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious. We had the full tea with the savoury and sweet selections. We couldn't manage to eat all the cakes so they boxed them for us to take home. We hadn't booked but they baked everything fresh for us and nothing was too much trouble.

I visited The Dining Room of a lunch time, as it's not far from where I work, and I though the experience was OK. The menu wasn't great in variety, not much choice or very varied, but I suppose what you would expect from a very small café, this include sandwiches and jacket potatoes being the main choice. It was... More

We visited for afternoon tea after going to the nearby shoe museum. The food was just lovely, tiny filo pastries, sandwiches and quiche. The cakes were just fantastic, especially the macaroon and chocolate covered sponge. What a lovely place for tea.

As a late Mother's Day gift, my nephew and I took his mother (my sister) and my mother for afternoon tea. We reserved the window seat in advance as this was going to be my second visit. Once again the food was superb. Two 'courses', savoury and sweet, served with lashings of tea. Thoroughly recommended and excellent value. Will return!

Yet another fantastic experience, again enjoyed a delicious Afternoon Tea in this lovely ambiente (every piece of the savoury and the sweet selection exquisitely tasty, ask for crème brûlée macaroons - to die for!), pro-active and very accommodating service allowing for our food preferences and allergy related wishes for the pre-booked Afternoon Tea to be taken care off, just yummy!...
