Went for afternoon tea after going around the house . The afternoon tea was lovely and you get to have as many hot drinks as you like which is a bonus . We had a lovely window seat which fair enough looks out on to the busy main road but was still a lovely setting . Will return to try... More

I was treated to afternoon tea by my daughter, It was absolutely delicious! Everything was freshly baked/homemade. We were made very welcome by the staff, we also had my grandson with us who is nearly 3, who thoroughly enjoyed his hot chocolate and sandwiches/cakes etc. Will be going again and would highly recommend to anyone else! :)

We booked a table for after our tour of the house, allow about 1hour 30 mins for the tour which was very good. We decided on the light lunch which was excellent. I had a ciabatta sandwich with goats cheese and caramelised onion and rocket salad and my husband had smoked salmon. I ordered a portion of chips extra which... More

It has taken me a year to get round to writing this however having sampled other afternoon teas since, it has reaffirmed my views on this venue. The afternoon tea is amazing with a selection of savoury items and sweet on separate stands. Everything is beautifully presented and the staff are lovely, can't wait to go back!

I went here for lunch with my hubby as we were visiting 78 Derngate for my birthday. We decided to have lunch first before the tour of the house and were the first people in the Dining Room at about 12.30 - pleasant room and layout, although much smaller than I expected (not a problem, just an observation!). I ordered... More

If I was rating this place purely on the quality of the food and drink then it would certainly warrant five stars, as it was all excellent. Overall, however, this place left me feeling just a little uncomfortable, although not because of anything that the proprietors have done wrong. It's stuck right up at the very end of Derngate, overlooking... More

I visited the Rennie Mackintosh house at 78 Derngate last Sunday with 2 friends and we started our day with coffee and cakes at The Dining Room. The decaff coffee was delicious and, whilst I enjoyed the excellent coffee and walnut cake, my 2 friends enjoyed the gluten-free scones. We then had our tour of 78 Derngate and returned for... More

Took my lovely Auntie Betty and 11 other assorted family and friends for afternoon tea at the Dining Room, and in the birthday girls words it was "superb". Rachael and her team did a grand job, the food was all home made and lovely, the tea was plentiful, and they catered well for our vegetarian and the coffee drinkers. Our... More

I was treated to Afternoon Tea here by my daughter and was very impressed. It felt really special and there was a very good range of sandwiches and savouries to start with. We enjoyed every crumb and, after a pot of tea each too, we were too full to eat our cakes! We were given cake boxes so that we... More
