Living in York there's loads of 'typical tourist' restaurants, this isn't one of them! The food, service and atmosphere are a step above; this place is brilliant! Small and homely, a real treat!
We went with friends on another friends recommendaction and we weren't disappointed!!...what a lovely quaint place..there are only 8 tables upstairs and once you are in you can stay in all night if you want to!!!..everything was excellent...the owner had us in stitches with some of the stuff he came out with...some of it we couldn't understand but hey it... Having visited York, we found this in the daytime when we went in for a snack, we were greeted straight away, a basket of bread arrived and drinks order was taken. We opted for the sharing platter which was certainly plenty for 2 people. We decided we liked what we saw and decided to book a table for the next... More
I visited this restaurant whilst staying in york on a business trip. The staff made me feel comfortable and relaxed and were very friendly. I had some pasta with chilli, brocolii and anchovies and it was beautiful.

Had an evening out to celebrate a birthday. Found on spec and not disappointed, with delicious food, and friendly though not overbearing staff. Excellent value for money and good atmosphere.
We went as a table of four on a Monday night, Nobody was there to greet us but we shouted hello and we were invited upstairs. The restaurant was empty however the atmosphere was authentic and the food was absolutely fantastic, Recomend the steak Diane!! I can appreciate that potentially it would be difficult to get a table on a... More
I had been meaning to try this restaurant for a number of years and we finally decided to go as a party of four, making reservations for last Saturday evening. We booked a table for 8.45, but when we turned up the downstairs waiting area was already full of people waiting for tables. Despite being told our table would be... More
Another great dining experience. This time we dined at 6pm, having previously called in at lunch times. The atmosphere is warm & inviting with friendly staff who have that skill of being attentive without being obtrusive. The chef certainly knows his flavour combinations and has elevated a simple tomato sauce to a higher level. All in all a memorable experience,... More
The decor was cosy and casual, just like many authentic Italian eating places. This restaurant focuses on the flavours they put into food rather than small, contemporary portions - just what we were looking for! The staff were attentive and friendly throughout, and even went to the effort to provide us with bruschette on arrival. For desert, two of us... More
