Immaculate

Went in here a couple of times over a weekend in york. Sat in the back room twice and it really was one of the cleanest pubs I've ever been in( and ive been in a few!), landlord was a nice chap, gave me a free beer after the ale i was drinking was a bit tangy, fair play.

We decided to have a Sunday lunch and had called in the pub earlier for a drink. We returned later in the day and we were not disappointed. We chose the special menu of two courses for £14.50, we had goats cheese on ciabatta and spicy chicken wings for starters. Then we had roast beef and all the trimmings, everything... More

We ate here twice over the weekend, having eaten here previously in February. Staff are friendly and attentive, food was really good and of a reasonable price compared to some of its competitors nearby (where we did eat and were disappointed). The Sunday lunch was really good value and tasty, only criticism I would make is that the beef was... More

I have been to York 4 times and have made it a point to ake this my place. THey are very friendly, the food is great and the Pub quiz is a lot of fun. Can an American win??? NO!!! But you sure can have fun trying. I did win a box of chocolates and had a great time.

Looked onlione for a place within the city to take a visiting friend for Sunday Lunch and this place seemed to tick the boxes so reserved a table online. Arrived to find the table available and a limited Sunday menu (just beef/pork, no chicken despite chicken being available in other dishes) but the waitress was eventually persuaded to offer a... After a short walk to the Royal Oak we decided to sample their cask drawn ales. Several samples were tasted and went with the Bitter. Very malty and not bitter at all. We ordered their Sunday roast. Mixed green veggies, squash, potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding, and roast beef. Food was very well prepared, hot, and very flavorful. This was my first... More

Ate in the back room. Friendly staff, good choice of beers and a decent Sunday lunch. Not exceptional, but reasonable value. We both had the beef roast and the meat was plentiful and tender, and the Yorkshire pud was huge. Recommended.

Excellent beer on draught with warm, friendly welcoming service. Good quality food in particular the fish and chips and the Mediterranean starter.

A really nice place, but expected better meals. I had a Mediterranean plater, served on a not really clean plate. Overall, a nice place for a pint. A bartender was nice and helpful.

Had a lovely meal through in the back lounge which was bright and cosy. Staff very attentive and pleasant. My husband had a lovely steak and I chose from the set menu which was great value. £10.95 for two courses. Quite a range of choices. I had a stuffed Portobello mushroom then a very tasty chicken and mushroom risotto. With... More
