Dreadful, walked out.

The restaurant described itself as a "Gastro Pub" on OpenTable.com. The first thing I noticed as we arrived was a table full of opened, lidless, dirty tubs of condiments. We were shown into a back room which was full of around 20 drunk blokes in Christmas jumpers, standing at the bar, loudly... read more

Six of us ate lunch here on a tour of York. Friendly and very helpful welcome. Decent real ales. Nice dining area. The snug looked cosy for a drink. Pub lunch menu, nothing exotic. We plumped for sandwiches and chips, which were fine. Reasonable , but not generous portions. Typical York prices. Worth a visit.

Good selection of ales, try to get there when the music students are jamming, great entertainment. Good old fashioned pub.

We called into here on our first night in York, ordered fish and chips (x3) and bangers, mash and onion gravy which went down a treat on a very cold November night...also spotless inside and friendly staff. Highly recommended :)

Piping hot, lovely Yorkshire pudding and gravy, nothing fancy..this was like a Sunday roast you would have booked at home. Yummmmmmm also Great value (£10). Cannot speak for... More

This is a traditional friendly old pub with no pretentions. There are several small dining areas and a quiet snug. We looked in at lunchtime to book for the evening , encouraged by previous reviews. The menu looked good so we booked. When we returned at 7.15 and it was busy with drinkers, but our table had been reserved. The... More
