Good lunch

Went there for lunch on way around the York Wall, as it is just up from Monk's Gate. I had the chicken and bacon sandwich, which was well cooked and tasty with home cut chips. My wife had the fish and chips, which were good with a nice light batter- not greasy at all. On tap cider very nice, and... read more

The dining room behind the bar in the Royal Oak has a cosy Victorian parlour vibe. If you visit on a Tuesday you will be able to take advantage of 'steak night' when you can bag a free bottle of wine with every two meals. The food is plain and good. The friendly host seeks and welcomes feedback. There was... More

A Monday lunch visit found us in this historic pub close to York Minster. It offers a range of homemade food and is accredited with the Cask Mark offering a selection of real ales. Our table was in the glass conservatory area and the bar was spotless and the barman was friendly and helpful..We had fish and chips which probably... More

Came here with my girlfriend last night. As we made our way into town we walked passed this pub and heard a man singing , popped our heads into the door and seen 2 very good live singers, so we decided to pop in for a drink. Ordered a pint of carling for my girlfriend, and a pint of grolsch... More

We went for an evening meal wanting good ordinary food and we're not disappointed. Along with good food we got great beer and live entertainment as well as excellent service.

This pub/restaurant looked very appealing from the outside. Good choice of food and we had the 'meal of the day'. There was a choice and we both had the cheese filled mushroom starter followed by a beef tagine with homemade couscous. Both were well presented and the tagine was as good as the ones we had eaten in Morocco. Service... More

We had the sunday menu with roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. It was a big and hearty meal, and a fair pricing. Very nice interior and friendly staff.

Was looking around for lunch and I ran into this place...they had a sign advertising their full English breakfast for a little over £5 with tea and coffee included. Went in there and my waiter was very accommodating. When I told him I was gluten intolerant, he informed me that I could not eat the black pudding or the sausage,... More
