We went in relatively late at 20:30h, as earlier bookings were not available. Very good service from the waitress. Food order was taken and arrived as ordered. Wine was the chianti classico, which was typical of the area, but nothing too special. Cannot comment on the garden views as it was dark. The major forte in a restaurant should be... More

It's definitely subjective isn't it! Visited on Sunday 14th September as a little treat to ourselves - everything was lovely - food was good, very tasty and the hot food was hot and the staff were attentive and the bill was not too big! What's not to like. Would happily call in again,.

As a group of six golfers we visited La Vecchia Scuola last Saturday evening. We found it by chance and we were certainly in luck! We sat at a table in the main building right by the cocktail bar and an extra bonus for me was being able to watch the barman mixing and pouring (three at a time!) the... More

Having had a great meal here last time we stayed in York we just had to return on our recent visit. I had requested a table in the conservatory. Lovely attentive/ friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Both mine and my husbands meals did not disappoint and the puddings were divine. Would definitely recommend

Not impressed with my experience at all. Came for the lunch time menu and ordered a chicken dish which came as a full fillet. In my experience full fillet chicken can be quite dry in the middle so I asked the waiter if it would be possible for the chicken to be cut into pieces before cooking to which his... More

Delicious food that was brought in good time to our table. The goats cheese pizza and the salmon linguini in particular were exquisite. The garlic mushroom starter was also fantastic. The furious boar zinfandel rose wine is highly recommended also. The staff were friendly. The deadly sins cocktail is tasty and strong, pretty much what you want.
