Beautiful batter

There's space to eat in but I got take out - I chose a small portion fish and chips. Fresh (nice) chips that didn't coat my mouth with anything horrid - good fish - BEAUTIFUL batter!! Really light and crispy. But, if that wasn't enough the staff are REALLY friendly, and pleasant - nothing too... read more

Took a trek on the basis of Trip Advisor and I am glad we did. The fish and chips were very good and the staff made us feel very welcome. The upstairs seating area is nice and homely too. If you fancy fish and chips whilst staying in York it's definitely worth checking out.

Not only delicious food, but delightful, friendly service. I have only tried the mini fish meal (400 calories), so can't comment on the usual fish, but the mini one comes in lovely light, crispy batter. Chips are spot on. The prices are good compared to the fish restaurant we usually visit (we had two meals with bread and butter and... More

Thought it was pretty mediocre (given the number of rave reviews on this page). Staff was okay, shop was quite nice and all, but fish and chips was far from what I would consider 'good'. Ordered cod, fish wasn't too bad, but thought the batter wasn't really nice. Onion rings were way too greasy as well.

This fish and chip shop is directly opposite my uni and every Monday, I have an hour after a lecture and between a seminar so most weeks I go to get fish and chips from here!! The service is so so friendly and very welcoming! I didn't think I would ever find a better fish and chip shop than my... More

Sean and Ieva, owners of the place are really good in every little thing they do. They are amazing peoples with a good word for everybody. And about their food..... I can't translate in words how good it is all that they cook. They are amazing cookers! Try fish and chips, try apple pie, try chocolate cake or just drink... More

My friend and I was there for lunch and we really enjoyed the fish and chips! They also had their own mixture of vinegar that went really well with the meal and the owner of the restaurant gifted a bottle of it to us! It was a really nice gesture and she also gave valuable tips on the must-dos in... More

At last, a decent fish n chip place in the area! Not too greasy. Good quality. Very pleasant staff. I will have to watch the waistline with this temptation!
