Nice traditional Yorkshire inn serving very good home cooked food on the Wolds Way

Lovely location located in the pretty village of Huggate on the Wolds Way. Very traditional Yorkshire pub (landlord can give the impression of being a bit cool and wasn't too chatty when I tried to start up a conversation but nothing to worry about). Would have been nice to see a real fire in the... read more

Dreadful food, batter on the goujons and off smelling fish soaked with grease. Mushy peas had set, but chips ok. My son had beans which he said were revolting! Husband had supposedly butchers sausages, wouldn't advise going to that butcher as looked and tasted horrible. Overall a very pants lunch and worse of all was really expensive for the quality... avoid at all costs, bar staff rude, food about as appetising as dog faecal matter. It is also very overpriced. There is the pipe and glass 5 mins away that is Michelin starred and worth it. This place most certainly is not. In my top 5 places of the worst I have eaten in.

Visited on Sunday for lunch with a friend on a walking day out. Lovely position and at least a proper pub, not just a restaurant. Let down by barman who was grumpy and disdainful from the start. Food basic but ok and plenty of it. Eaten to the background noise of a loud "anti-cycle" rant from the old boy behind... More

We had rather high hopes for this place after it came highly recommended by the owners of the nearby Walnut Cottage. We decided to take a walk up to try the food after a long Tuesday out in Yorkshire. We had telephoned ahead to ensure that there was sufficient room for our party of 10; this was a completely needless... More

I have stopped at the Wolds Inn, Huggate for bed and breakfast on the three occasions that I have walked The Yorkshire Wolds Way and each time have been underwhelmed by the reception on arrival. If you can overlook this initial lack of hospitality, the Wolds Inn is a warm and comfortable place to stay. The evening meals on all... More

Went as a party of ten today for Sunday Lunch and was not disappointed as the food was lovely, well cooked and presented nicely. A la Carte Menu was not available but there was plenty of choice from the Sunday menu, including the Children's options. A bonus was that there were lots for Gluton intolerable people too. Be aware that... More

That feeling you get when you're somewhere warm, cosy and have just eaten some tasty Sunday pub food! Great value and huge portions of food that will leave you well and truly satisfied! I wouldn't go anywhere else for a meat pie which is served with a plate full of golden brown chips, finished off with banoffee pavlova. Love the... More

We have been meaning to pop in her for ages and found some time after Christmas. Warm welcome, and opted for steak pie and a fish pie. As we we're starving we also ordered some pate. Starter arrived and was demolished in quick time and didn't disappoint. The steak pie was gorgeous, really deep filling and light pastry. The veg... More

Famous for its Yorkshire portions, we were stuffed to the gills after leaving the pub. Ordering from a Christmas menu, we both enjoyed a starter and main course that was delicious. Good, traditional, no nonsense pub food, freshly cooked.
