It was a lovely sunny lunchtime and I hadn't been to this country pub for years so decided it would be nice to sit/eat outside and watch the ducks on the pond and passing dog-walkers. My wife ordered chicken and bacon salad and I ordered braised liver and onions. Problem 1 - the waitress came out later and said they... More

I went to the agar arms york for a meal and guess what? The new manager and wife had gone after a few weeks. I have never known a pub change hands so often? Can someone. Explain the reason for so many staff changes. It is my local but don't go there anymore? A good pub but with staff issues... More

Fancy an afternoon or evening away from the madding crowds of York's city centre? Want to take a few pints while watching ducks squabble on a pond? Want a car park that looks onto fields filled with the local bunny-wabbits? If so take yourself down to the Agar Arms in Warthill. A doorstep away from fantastic countryside walks and bike... More

Having lived in the area for some time we were keen to try the offerings of the new management. The last couple of years has been somewhat of a wilderness to say the least! However, Sam Smiths have finally got it right! A lovely friendly couple who not only make you welcome from the moment you walk in but keep... More

Now under new management, this is a very friendly and welcoming pub with good food and drinks (particularly the Extra Stout) at VERY reasonable prices. We went there on the fifth night of a week's break in York and had such a good time we came back twice. Would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area. We'll be... More

Called on Wed. night with my family for a meal out, this pub had a long standing reputation for great steaks, guess what.... they didn't have any! A quick look at the menu revealed the standard Sam Smiths Fayre, not to our liking, so a quick drink and we left a truly beautiful pub with great potential, spoilt by Mr.... More

For us, its a 5 min drive to get to, and it is a very homely nice country pub. The food is great, and the drink is a good price. We come here often, and get on with the landlord very well. We are a young couple, but it is good for friends and family's.

Called in here for Sunday lunch.. What a big mistake.. Greeted by the waitress saying "at last something to do". That should of told us a story but we gave it a go. Lunch came in a matter of 5 minutes. Good service I thought but upon tasting the Sunday best al absolutely tasteless. Carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, peas all tasted of water &... More

Took some friends here for Sunday lunch. The Agar Arms is situated opposite an idyllic duck pond in the pretty village of Warthill near York. New owners took over in Jan 13 and we had also called in to eat there a week or so after they had moved in. On both visits the food was good honest Sunday lunch... More
