I fall into the group of not knowing what all the fuss is about. The service was friendly, but the menu was limited and I didn't find the food to be terribly special.

I pop in here quite often as it's on the same street as my office and I never fail to order a cheese scone, as they are marvellous and usually still warm and very fresh! The sandwiches are proper door stop efforts and the rest of the menu is good - not massively extensive, but manageable for a little shop... More

A lovely little cafe with excellent staff, their lemon slice is to die for. Great to receive such personal service, will definitely be back!

Having seen all the recommendations made our way on a dull Thursday afternoon. Half full inside, quite dim. We were not welcomed on arrival and found our own seat under a chimney breast. Some ten minutes later we were approached. Unfortunately we did not see or were offered the daily specials so we chose from the somewhat limited menu. I... More

Arrived with two friends and were quickly seated. Food was fresh and tasty, and the hot chocolate afterwards was fantastic!!

Popped in today with the lovely Lisa after reading many effusive reviews on this site. But if I am honest, I'm not really sure what all the fuss is about. It's a nice enough little café with decent coffee but it's really nowhere special. Personally, I found the lunch menu very limited and somewhat uninspiring. Rather than being spoilt for... More

My boyfriend and I popped in here on Saturday lunchtime and found it to have a very friendly atmosphere. We both ordered Chorizo and bean stew, which was gorgeous! The menu options are tasty, varied but not too complicated. Great value for money! This cafe also seems to offer all kinds of get togethers from knitting clubs to creative arts... More

This was on our 'to do' list when me and my daughter went to york for a break. Checked the website and was open on 10-5 on a Tuesday. Struggled to find it as slightly out of the way. When we got there at 350pm .... Sign on the door to say closes at 4pm!! What happened next shows the... More

I visited this cafe on an annual trip to York chocolate festival and it was a delight. The food was lovely, the service was just what the doctor ordered being that it was a very busy day. It may be simple but sometimes that is an essential.

Read the reviews on Trip Advisor and was determined to find this tea room as it looked so good and I am a keen baker myself. My husband ordered the pate and bread and I ordered a slice of cake. The tea came with his pate, but I had to go to the counter to ask them again for my... More
