Great village country pub with first class food

Millington village is a great Yorkshire location for lovely walks. This pub is a great place to return to after a walk. Food is served piping hot, exactly as ordered, and generous portions. Great good priced beer and cider with black sheep and Yorkshire on tap. Great publican and wife. Can't think... read more

Visited for lunch with walking group. Lovely cosy rustic pub, great ambiance. Food was great, especially the steak pie, piping hot and all freshly cooked. Lovely people, we will definitely visit again.

My wife and I often go to find food in 'proper' pubs and end up finding pubs transformed into restaurants, or selling more restaurant type food, or the worst offenders; "gastro"(nomical)-pubs. The Gait Inn was recommended to us by the owners of the cottage we stayed in and it was brilliant! Tight spaces, raucous atmosphere, cheap and tasty food, and... More

Visited the Gait Inn a few times over the summer. Beer and food always excellent on each occasion. The meat pie here is the best I have ever had. staff are very friendly. Lovely beer garden for outdoor drinking in summer.

We recently visited for a meal on a busy Saturday, as usual it was a good welcome in the lovely rural pub. The staff coped really well with us on and tendered to our every need. The beers served were really good and the food fantastic. My dogs were most appreciative of the bones which is all that was left... More

1st time at the Gait for many years and we won't be back. We ordered food 10 minutes after we arrived and 45 minutes later we saw another table getting served even though they'd ordered after us. Chasing up our meal, it was 5 minutes before we were told it would be with us soon and another 5 minutes before... More

The Gait Inn is always our first choice for a pub lunch as we live locally. The welcome from Stewart & Helen is warm and Monty our Labrador loves it there! Today we had a hearty lunch on a dreary wet day with an excellent pint that was just the job to cheer us up. Fish, chips with mushy peas... More

It’s a couple of years since we last visited but, it was just as we remembered it - a good, honest country pub serving quality home cooked food and in a great location. The staff were very helpful and the food was served promptly. The Yorkshire pudding starter and the Steak Pie, Burgers etc. were very good indeed. The portion... More

Son and myself arrived at this pub after walking Millington Pasture. As expected it being Bank Holiday Monday, the pub was very busy although we only had about a 5 minute wait for our drinks. We both had the Gait Burger which arrived after about 30 mins, which was no problem as we sat outside drinking watching the world go... More

We had read reviews of this pub and wanting a midday meal, we thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed. The Gait Inn is not yout typical "chain" or upmarket gastropub, it's a "real" and unpretentious pub that serves good ales and superb home-cooked food. From the outside, it certainty does not have the "wow" factor,... More
