A great pub in a lovely setting.

Son and myself arrived at this pub after walking Millington Pasture. As expected it being Bank Holiday Monday, the pub was very busy although we only had about a 5 minute wait for our drinks. We both had the Gait Burger which arrived after about 30 mins, which was no problem as we sat outside... read more

We had read reviews of this pub and wanting a midday meal, we thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed. The Gait Inn is not yout typical "chain" or upmarket gastropub, it's a "real" and unpretentious pub that serves good ales and superb home-cooked food. From the outside, it certainty does not have the "wow" factor,... More

This was my first visit, with others that had eaten here before and had rave reviews. Really lovely little pub, all the staff were friendly, as were the locals. The food was amazing. I didn’t have a starter, but others did and said the pate was excellent, I had the homemade lasagne for my main which was really good, others... More

Lovely home cooked food. I've eaten here a few times and always been impressed and the prices are reasonable. The portions are always generous so never leave hungry! The burger is delicious and the broccoli and cheese cake from the vegetarian menu is lovely too :-)

Had a lovey Easter day lunch. Fab location, not too far away from York, no heavy traffic and tucked away in the Yorkshire Wolds. Very friendly landlord, lovely Yorkshire food, all home cooked and fresh and typical Yorkshire portions but so reasonable (£7.50 for a roast Lamb!!). Great local beers, real fire in a wood burner. Came be a little... More

We were staying at The Ramblers Rest across the road and decided one evening to eat here. Booking is advised as it does get very busy. There was a lovely fire roaring in the wood stove and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. The Landlord is quite a character and enjoys chatting to his customers, but not in an intrusive... A very warm welcome with friendly staff. The pub has a very warm feel to it, with an eclectic mix of items all over. The menu has a good and varied selection, cooked to your liking. The steaks are very tasty (fillet and T-bone) with decent portion sizes. Well worth a visit.

This pub was recommended in the cottage we stayed in. To look at, the pub is nothing special, but the steak was excellent. The other food looked great too, but the T-bone could not be faulted. Lovely area for a walk and views too, and the pub had a fire and a cosy feel.

Dropped in for a quick drink and what a pleasant surprise . A little larger inside than the out side impression. The place was full of people enjoying their meals and not a spare table . So booking is advised. Great pint of black sheep. Land lord a jolly friendly chap as was the young woman serving behind the bar.... More
