We ate here when staying at the Ramblers Rest across the road, there wasn't any other choice besides getting a taxi into Pocklington (as we cycled here) but we weren't disappointed. The welcome was friendly and the food hearty home cooked, tasty food. A traditional country pub with reasonably priced food. Would recommend.

A friend and I dined here as we stayed overnight in the village as we tackled the Yorkshire Wolds Way walk. We had booked a 7pm table but had to make this later at short notice, which wasn't a problem. We were warmly greeted by the owner, Stuart who was happy to engage in conversation. There was a good selection... More

A great village pub with a really warm welcome, even for seven smelling cyclists. The food is top notch; the steaks are the product of the landlord's own cattle are are cooked to perfection. Will certainly be returning.

My husband and I were walking the Minster Way and after a hard day's "up hill and down dale" we were in definite need of sustenance. The only pub in the village turned out to be a real gem. My husband downed a couple of the real ales and we both chose the homemade steak pies - absolutely delicious, a... More

The food as always was excellent. The home made steak pie was to die for. It is so delicious. Everything was home made, piping hot and delicious. My only complaint was - the home made apple pie had been microwaved to warm it up, which spoilt it for me as the delicious pastry was soggy!!! I would have opted for... More

Having lived in the area a few years we decided to visit the inn due to local reviews. quaint village pub, nice atmosphere, very warm welcome, staff obliging, dog and muddy boot friendly. Regretably the food was expensive and poor quality, I do not mind paying for quality food, but felt pockets picked. Is it worth going again, for drink... More
