Had two meals here last week could not find fault with any part of our meals or service. Nothing too much trouble. On the first night we were a 4 walk in and they were very busy but they found us a table in the bar and the second time we booked for 5 in the restaurant both great nights

Steak and ale pie was great Roast beef and Yorkshire pud was nice. We were allowed to take our dog into the bar side while we ate and the staff were very friendly.

In an area of quintessentially charming Yorkshire villages, Stillington is by no means among the most attractive and picturesque. It appears to be mainly one street of with a few offshoots. The White Bear stands roughly in the centre of the village. I wasn't sure whether or not the pub had a car park and decided to park at the... More

We were doing some walking in the area & called in at the White Bear for lunch. We ate in the bar & had a beef baguette & a giant Yorkshire pudding with beef. Both dishes were lovely with a generous helping of good-quality meat. There was also a good choice of cask ales. The atmosphere in the pub was... More

The food is very hearty Yorkshire food. The staff were very friendly and attentive, all of which you expect. We had chefs homemade soup of the day (carrot and coriander), pheasant casserole with herb dumpling all for £10.95!!! A great gem for those visiting outside of York. Non-pretentious. The service was great and we would definitely come back.

Having eaten many times at the White Bear and always been well satisfied we must say that we were very disappointed on our latest visit. Maybe it was because I found a foreign object in my food i.e. a piece of plastic. We were also disappointed with the quality of the food with some of the veg only warm and... More

We recently had a mid week break in Crayke (2 miles from Stillington) and the only pub in that village is the Durham Ox which is more of a gastro pub with prices to match. So is like us you are looking for a more traditional local Yorkshire pub try The White Bear. A warm welcome from friendly staff, a... More

We visited the white bear on a Saturday evening not booking a table we afraid we wouldn't get in due to the sheer volume of people in the bar . The landlady very friendly offered us a table in 15 mins , For starters I had the Brie wedges and hubby had the pate . Pate looked and tasted lovely... More
