I've done my fair share of Italian food, in Italy and around the world, but my main course from the blackboard menu was the best I have ever had. Filet steak strips with mushroom just melted in my mouth! Great service too. Just opened a new business in York and this will become one of my favourite places to eat.... More

Unfortunately I'm very dissapointed after my last visit at Paradiso. We've been there before and always had pizza which was absolutely great. Can't say anything bad. This time we've decided to have something different. I've had a cheese as a starter and carbonara as a main course. My boyfriend had king prawns, and lassagne as main. My cheese served with... More

After a recommendation we visited and it was well worth it - the food was fantastic and the staff lovely, all very friendly. Prices were very reasonable. We loved the area and the pubs on Fossgate leading on to Walmgate were great. Will definitely be back.

We have visited this restaurant many times and without doubt it is the very best in York. I would highly recommend. The restaurant its self is small but we like that, if you are looking for excellent food then you need to eat here! Absolutely out of this word, the atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly. I would recommend... More

Been here several times in Walmgate York. Looks like a little Cafe from the outside but inside the welcome is great and you could believe you were in a small cafe in Italy. Service is first class and typically Italian. The food and wine are of the highest standard although maybe a tad overpriced. Booking is essential I feel because... More

One of York's little gems on a street fast becoming the "go to" food area in the city. Great menu, bustling atmosphere, warm welcome and a specials board full of "must try" dishes. Beware, they do not take credit cards but do not let that put you off.

A very typically Italian feel to this what is probably best termed Trattoria with a very understated exterior and an warm and very friendly Italian interior. The food was exquisite, quite simply the most delicious Italian food I have eaten outside of Italy itself. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the litre bottle of house red was delicious.... The great food is only part of the pleasure - and as vegetarians we had plenty of choice; the friendly informal atmosphere makes for a relaxed evening; rarely have I heard so much Italian spoken in a restaurant in the UK; and although there is a large screen showing football the sound is turned off so it doesn't intrude -... we ate here on the first night of a two night break in York. It is outside the main tourist area of the city centre but well worth the extra walk. Family run, using fresh ingredients, it has a very varied menu and a Specials board. Reasonably priced. For starters my wife had the prawns and I had the squid.... More

The positives are the food is very good and value tremendous and waiters can be humourous. The negatives are the size of the place means you often nearly eating with others so close you share conversations, a large tv invariably showing Italian football and the main negative is that you get to the door and they don't take credit cards....
