Great place

This place is a great place to sample beers and ciders. The surroundings are absolutely awesome with genuine oak beams and a great view of the Minster. Was really looking forward to giving this place a try, just went in for a swift half and was hoping to get an ale around the 4% mark as it was the middle of the day. Unfortunately there was nothing below 5.9% so I decided not to bother. A bottle was suggested, which I declined. I was rather abruptly asked... More

Went on the 30th July with my brother. Found this place through trip advisor. It's above a beer shop not far from York minster. We had walked past the beer shop a few times but didn't realize it had a bar above it. The beer shop is fantastic on its own, such a massive selection. The bar up top is... More

This is a great pub to try something new (with the hundreds of beers available), and the shop downstairs is brilliant. On our visit, the tiny pub was heaving, but we found seats. The decor is fun and the food looked good although we didn't eat. Although there were 700+ beers to choose from, there wasn't any kind of beer... More

Very small, very busy pub. Was served an uncooked burger and asked for replacement. Not much of an apology and then came back with original blood soaked bun. Not good.

An amazing pub, not much space and you ha to wait for a table as they can't be reserved but we relaxed and let the world pass us by with a good beer. When we got a table we ordered food and what a treat it was! A stew and madness platter, amazingly!

Saw the reviews for this place and decided to have a drink before we ate out. Got to the pub and enjoyed the ambiance. Saw a platter and decided to stop for a cheese board(and more unique Ales) instead. Got a great selection of cheeses, not just your usual ones. Favourites included Newcastle Brown Ale and Strong Porter cheese. Does... More

So the first thing of note about this pub is that it is not that large. Be prepared to wait a minute or two for a seat - THE WAIT IS WORTH IT! You enter through a storefront selling an excellent selection of wines, ales, ciders, and spirits and the pub is upstairs. The decor is very traditional with interesting... More

One of my favourite pubs we visited in York, atmosphere in here was really good and everyone very friendly. Difficult to find a seat so you have to arrive early if you want to sit down as people tend not to move! Tried some of the house cider which was lovely, would love to go back and have meal next... The place is really quirky, and fun, all the food is cooked on the premises, and when you see the size of the kitchen you would be amazed. I ordered burgers which are amazing. homemade and delicious. The selection of both beer and wine is good and served by a friendly competent staff. We will return
