Excellent beer shop with eclectic pub

I've visited the downstairs beer shop several times over the course of the last six or seven years, without ever knowing that there was a pub serving food upstairs. The shop itself has a wide selection of beers from many lands, and had quite a few that I'd never seen before, even though I live in... read more

There are not enough words to say about this place. On the ground floor you can purchase hundreds of different types of beers, ales and trappist brews. Upstairs is a small bar and wow, its fantastic. High ceilings, a few tables all wood along with everything else. There is small window that you can see the Minster through which at... More

Did I need to come to York to drink Brooklyn Lager -- but there are other (non-local) beers on draft. We split a Yorkshire platter which had lots of good stuff on it. Atmospheric and... More

This was my second visit to this bar and it was heaving with customers seeking a tipple of something a little different. Since my last visit a few years ago they've extended the food menu (although we didn't eat this time the food going out to other customers looked good). The bar stocks a wide range of beers from countries... More

Trembling Madness is a quirky old pub come restaurant at the bottom of Stonegate. Our portions were massive and they had a great range of beers on. Staff were friendly also. There are loads of old features in the pub and it was a great place to have lunch. Will go back some time to try some more of the... More

My boyfriend was adamant he wanted to have a drink here after reading about it so we did. I could not believe how quirky this bar was, it was one of those places you are just fascinated by the whole building. Unfortunately we had a lot to see so did not return here but the next time we are in... More
