I discovered this brilliant restaurant whilst on the way from my hotel to my course nearby. After reading trip advisor as I was looking for somewhere to eat that night I decided to eat at the Rose and Crown which is set in as beautiful village. I nearly did not attend the Rose and Crown due to negative reviews by... More

Discovered by chance recently, arriving too late for lunch, so just enjoyed a drink in the bar. We dropped in a couple of days later for an early supper as we very much liked the look & feel of the place. An excellent meal followed. I had salmon ( good size portion) with some very tasty and interesting side veg... More

We were staying locally at a Hotel and were looking for something different. Rang up whilst in York and was able to book an early table. Very good welcome from the staff, special thanks to Sarah and Stuart for making us feel so welcome. My wife had the Salmon and I had the chicken and mushroom pie for mains, lemon... More

There was great service, lovely staff and very mediocre food. Starters were good. Mains were overcooked and full of padding and too little of the meat or fish. A great shame. Change of owners has resulted in all the wrong changes in the food.

We visited this venue for Sunday Lunch (16.03.14) - found it on the website as it was mid-point location for 6 of us to meet up (3 couples). It was fabulous, staff were exemplary and the food absolutely "top notch" - I am 73 years of age and I cannot recall having a better Sunday lunch in a pub or... More

I came here for a leaving lunch with 11 work colleagues! We had a range of foods from the sandwiches to the pies to the burgers and they all were fantastic! The home made chips were fantastic! Would recommend.

Went there for Sunday lunch. It was my birthday so treated the children and 2 grandchildren. The staff were really helpful as 2 small children and 2 vegetarians made for interesting choices. They provided a list of different veggie dishes that they could provide that we're not on the menu..thank you. Wish I didn't have a starter as when my... More
