Beautiful hotel, full of character and charm. My fiancé and I almost chose this venue for our wedding although, we decided the main room was too small for our reception and some area's of the hotel needed a bit of a tidy. But we will definitely visit again!

Posh restaurant, part of a hotel located in a historic building. The food was excellent, generous helpings and reasonable prices. Great location, right behind the York Minster.

Wow, what a hidden gem, full of history. Staff friendly and polite. My daughter first took us here a year before. She was delayed as she was was having her hair done and we were a group of 5. Even though they were busy nothing was too much trouble and in fact they gave us the library so it was... More

I attended this venue for a wedding. It is centrally located in York [so parking is a no go] but nestled privately down the backstreets right by York Minster. The building, inside and out, is steeped in history and you certainly get the feel you are going back in time as you walk in. The walled garden is charming and... More

Walked into the garden, escorted by a young waiter under the name of jake. A great character who expressed his love for cricket and a good ale. We got a long very well. Just want to say that staff like Jake made my stay so much better. Me and my Friend Phil Reed ate Chicken Kievs.

Visited Saturday 11th April with my wife, daughter and partner. Did not know what to expect as I had been given the booking as a Birthday gift. On entering the Hotel very impressed, made our way upstairs to the Bar area to find seating reserved for us. Served quickly with drinks, food orders taken as we sat having a relaxed... More

This is a wonderful, atmospheric building in a historic part of the city adjacent to the Minster. Not obviuos to find, a little off main thoroughfares and not signposted. I had discovered the place through a cororate 'workshop' event and fell in love with it. I told my wife about it and we booked ourselves and two friends in to... More

The hotel is well placed behind the minster, so you have calm and quiet , history and yet central location. I booked because I wanted to reserve a table for lunch and didnt want to queue for 40minutes to get a table at the usual popular haunts. The interior is elegantly decorated and very unique, Food? as I said erratic.... More

Thank you for your comments, I will look at the fruit cake, I have mentioned this to the kitchen before, and we need to look at this again as a matter of urgency. I am sorry that you were not happy and would be more than happy to either refund or ask you to try this again with my compliments.... More
