Nice outdoor setting

Visited for a bite to eat at lunch time on a Saturday afternoon, food was good and I was even more impressed with the draught Lowenbrau! Not many places have this! Outdoor seating area is a great idea

They can't even pour a Guinness properly ! They just want your money and you out. Not worth the time of day.

We were looking for a place for a simple bite, and they had plenty of room. The food looked and tasted proper English, certainly nothing fancy: pie with chips and peas, but the steak pie did taste nice. Although Irish Coffee was on the menu, they couldn't manage to make one that tasted half decent. But, because the quality was... More

Interesting venue with an open-to-the-sky heated courtyard which I guess would be very popular in summer but which was a little bracing in February - we moved inside. Service is a bit haphazard but it would be hard to find better value food in the city centre. Inevitably a teetotal lunch reduces the bill but it would be easy to... More

Been coming here for many years and today's visit was one of my least favourite . It was very busy which was too be expected due to it been the half term holidays , so we arranged early 12pm. Once everyone arrived from our group (12:30) it took a while for someone to take our orders. When the food arrived... More

Went for lunch with my mother in law. She had the prawn sandwich which was a very generous portion with chips and salad. I had the chilli but cannot eat wheat or sugar so asked for ingredients. Which they were more than happy to provide and adapt for me. Lovely atmosphere. I'm not a big person but even I found... More

Had piri piri chicken and avacado salad and it was yummy. Sangria was delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient. Thoroughly recommended as a york resident great value and superb quality. Worth a visit if you are visiting york as a fab restaurant venue.

we were recommended to go here by local shop worker. It was quaint, but not very best food. Average. In warm weather, looks like a nice area outside in the court yard to eat and drink. Service was stretched; management needs to give more helpers/servers. Bread was average (baguette not really French standard).
