We visited with a group of 18 on a garden tour of Yorkshire and the Lake District. It's not easy to find a quality restaurant that will seat a group like this AND offer a range of menu choices. They exceeded expectations in every respect. The food was delicious and service outstanding. I wish we had come two nights there,... More

Visited 'The Go Down' on Friday 26th June, we've been here many times before and never had anything but compilers about one of our favourite restaurants....until now! The place was full and had a very large table of around 15-20 people so the staff were understandably rushed off their feet, however this should never effect the standard of food sent... More

Great British menu favourites, delicious and well presented. On the pricier side of places we ate at during a 5 night stay in York but everything was very tasty and worth the little extra.

We are a group of friends who frequently spend shopping weekends in York. Chose The Go Down based on personal recommendation by my daughter in law and also on the excellent reviews on Trip advisor and other review sites. We ate from the very reasonably priced set menu. All 4 starters , mains and deserts were excellent. Presentation and quality... More

Visited here with my wife and another couple, having passed by and been attracted by the quirky name and interesting menu. Despite no reservation, a table was quickly found and our needs were attended to promptly (almost too attentive, if that's possible - asked if we wanted drinks three times in five minutes). We chose from the set menu, which... More
