Probably not somewhere we would have gone initially but this place was recommended by the hotel we stayed at as our first choice location was closed that particular night. Located within the city walls and close to all pubs worth visiting. Pleasantly greeted by the staff upon arrival. No booking but at the time we arrived, plenty of tables were... More

My boyfriend booked this resteraunt for my 20th Birthday last Saturday. It was the perfect experience start to finish. The atmosphere of the restaurant was so welcoming and homely. The staff members could not have been any more pleasant, yet they were not intrusive. The chef even came out to over see that everyone was enjoying their meals. The food... More

Quite often I can visit restaurants that have been showered with wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor, only to be sorely disappointed. This restaurant is certainly not one of them. A short walk from our hotel, which is always a good start when the lady is in heels. A fantastic menu can easily be let down with unprofessional staff, this was... More

What a wonderful find! We were welcomed by a very charming and polite young waiter who took our coats and showed us to our table. We were then given the menus and we weren't to be disappointed. I had prawn and melon to start which was lovely. My husband had chicken and I had the lamb which melted in the... More

We were in York to celebrate my Dads birthday and we couldn't have found a better restaurant to celebrate it. There were 14 of us and everyone agreed that the food and service was fantastic. This is the first time we have been to this restaurant and we will definitely be going again the next time we visit York. Thank... More

The fixed price menu is unbeatable and has many offerings grills, salads and great desserts topped with a lovely crisp white wine and that was all the ingredients needed for a great night out, and service was excellent, made to feel really welcome. Vegetables were just right. This place is amazing.

My wife and I went to "The Go Down" last night and one of my first thoughts this morning was "How great was that?". We've got to go back. We were pushed for time as we were going to the theatre over the road and booked a table at 5:30. It was great to find the restaurant quite full by... More

We dined here just before travelling back after a little break away. We had walked around York checking out where we fancied going and this place pulled us in based on how it looked and the fixed price menu. Service was second to none, everyone so nice and friendly and attentive. Started with a gorgeous warm loaf with a pot... More
