Best Breakfast I have EVER had!

such a quaint little tea room far more initmate than the larger Bettys further down the road which people queue for miles for! We loved Betty's - what's not to love.. cake and champagne! I think we were lucky and were at the front of the queue, as rumours were the queue was long, we waited 10 mins for a great table and excellent champagne tea. Lovely tea - Sapphire Blue!

August Bank Holiday Monday in England...so typical weather...rain!! York full of visitors from all corners of the world. After a short wait...a wonderful oasis. Real service from the ladies who are running around keeping clients served. Wide selection of food, coffees and teas that read like a wine list...and a separate gluten free menu for me. OK ..no gluten containing... More

Lovely place, only queued for about 15 mins and it was busy. Served by pleasant staff in period clothing. The crockery and cutlery were lovely and a really lovely feel about the place. Wonderful cakes and tea. It is pricey but you can't come to York without going to Betty's. This is the smaller Betty's, the main one is round... More

A little pricey and a 10-15 mins wait to be seated. Wonderful service, staff very polite but too busy to be friendly.

The great thing about this restaurant is that whilst the queues, when we went at least, were a fraction of the length of the main Betty's , you get the same menu and the same great service in a lively environment. The food was very good, as was the service. We did have to wait for our main course, but... More

Very overrated waited half hour for table . Very overpriced and tea wasn't substantial for afternoon tea. Lots of other great places in York for afternoon tea that are much better.

After seeing the queues outside the larger Betty's, we opted for the smaller one. While still busy enough to generally cause a 10 minute wait at mealtimes, the queue is by no means unreasonable and the cafe is well worth the wait. Special mention to the brown bread ice cream with toffee sauce, which we thought initially was a typo.... More

I have been going to this place under its various names since 1965, in those days the waitresses used to give me the left over toasted teacakes that had been too much for others. Today was a real disappointment. I didnt have too much time before a 12:15 meeting, I arrived at 11.30, and was encouraged because I didnt have... More

I wouldn't go back, although the food was fine , it wasn't the worst but it wasn't the best i think i would go to a place which has a decent burger ,by the time i left it looked like the entire city was going in there or like a new movie had come out . trust me it wasn't... More
