My mum and I visited Betty's for lunch on a Friday, despite arriving at 1330 we still had to queue on the stairs for 20 mins, a little dangerous because they are quite narrow and some of the customers aren't too nimble on their feet, I'd recommend booking if at all possible. When we did get a table it was... More

Two people in the train recommend me to try something at Bettys because was really good and apparently famous as well. When I arrived to York, I went there for breakfast. All the food in there is very expensive but the atmosphere and the service is pretty good! Is such a fancy place :) and the food was really nice.... More

The quaint interior is cosy and welcoming, but the stairs would be a no-no for anyone disabled. We were greeted beautifully by friendly staff in smart outfits. The service was excellent even though the tea-room was full to capacity. The food was quite tasty and attractively served, but was not good value for money.

On our short trip to York we visited both the Cafe & the Tea Rooms. The service in both was excellent, we seemed to get there both days just at the right time, no long ques as we had seen previously, In the tea rooms we were sat next to the piano which was very relaxing. in the cafe by... More

We enjoyed the cozy setting. We opted to avoid the expensive set tea and instead enjoy what the Swiss founders do best: hot chocolate and sachet torte.

We queued to get in as it's like an attraction, more of an experience than a place for eats. We were greeted beautifully, and the service is charming, old fashioned uniforms and genuine smiles. Great staff with lovely anecdotes and chatter. The food was not great for the price. A poor 'fat boy' scone (I make as good and no... More

It's going back to the old days of high tea and certainly lives up to the name. Sandwiches you choose & with variety of small cakes or scones with cream jam etc. We love it! Have to wait in queue to get in but it's well worth it. Variety of teas and coffee and totally relaxed atmosphere. It's pricey but... More

A bit dark and dingy inside; the premises look tired and overdue for a makeover. Should have been a nice seat by the window, but view spoilt by a big hole in the outside windowframe. Had afternoon tea for two. Coffee was good. Four smallish sandwiches each with generous and tasty fillings. Scone with clotted cream and jam (Bettys calls... More
