We thought the sandwiches were alittle bit overpriced but ok and the cakes were a reasonable price and tasty. Nice but not wow.

We called in here after visiting the sister shop on Baxtergate last year. Upon entering the tea room is impressive to look at and looks like something out of a period drama - very quaint and a lovely place to sit and eat. However the food was a disappointment compared to our previous experience at Bothams. My jacket potato was... More

Very good menu choice with many different breads on offer if ordering sandwiches. Some might say the place is old fashioned but it offers good food served by well trained staff. The three course menu of the day - usually a roast or braising steak as the main - is really good value for money. The shop downstairs offers mouth-watering... More

Good cake and coffee from yesteryear. For those who have experienced Bettys in York it is that sort of feel. Nice fruit cake with a bit of Wensleydale.

A good old style restaurant/tearoom and none the worse for that. Service was good, staff were pleasant and food was good. Tables well spaced so we weren't crowded. It was very clean and well presented. We had the lunch special (2 courses for £10.75) which on the day was braised steak. It was done just right and fell apart cleanly... More

Worth a visit, traditional old bakers with plenty of choice. Good friendly service and reasonably priced. Good location up on West Cliffe away from the crowds on the front.

We had lunch in these splendid surroundings bringing back happy memories of what 'Silver service' restaurants used to be like. Elegant rooms and friendly helpful service all add to the atmosphere of bygone days of sophistication and genteel splendour. The food was first class, all home made and delicious as was the Yorkshire tea that they serve. There may be... More

I went to Bothams' Tea Rooms on (Skinner Street, Whitby) here with my girlfriend on Saturday 4th April, over the bank holiday weekend, and thought it was wonderful. We did not have to book and were seated immediately. Our order was taken promptly (not too promptly, where you feel as though you may be being rushed, but not so long... More

I went here over the Easter Bank Holiday with my boyfriend for afternoon tea. We were served quickly and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food didn't take long to arrive and it was delicious. The scone was quite easily the best scone I've ever had, ever so slightly warm and light and fluffy. I'd travel back to whitby... More
