Locals liken this bakery to Betty's. As one who lived in Harrogate for many years, there is absolutely no comparison. The sandwiches at Botham's are very reasonable but the cakes are ordinary.

My first trip to this legendary tea rooms. I was delighted by the range and quality. The price was not quite as high as I'd expected.

I stopped by twice whilst in Whitby for things to eat out from the bakery. Both times I was not disappointed with the value for money, without having to compromise on the taste or quality; you can easily buy something for your lunch for under a pound. There is so much variation and choice on offer, all being delicious, that... More

There aren't enough superlatives to describe how good those biscuits are. I only wish we lived nearer so I could treat us more often - probably good for the waistline that we don't though!!

Best tea menu I've seen in ages and the ginger brack was fab. Rare breed pork pie from the bakery downstairs wasn't bad either!!

We had to stop for lunch at Bothams to see if anything had changed in the years I had been away. What a comfort to know it hadn't! Still the black and white clothed waitresses with their little aprons and caps, still the rather slow but fastidious service. Food was good quality and fresh as anything. Bread was tasty and... More

There was a queue when we arrived but we were seated fairly quickly. As we were a big party we had to sit at 3 different tables. It seems some items take a lot longer to organise - even though they were all cold - than others because the table that was seated a good 10 minutes after us got... More

This is a lovely place that preserves traditional ways of doing things. The food is delicious, the service is excellent and it offers everything that Betty's offers at a much much better price. If you are in Whitby you've got to give it a go
