Friendly, accommodating, Gold Star service!

I would like to thank all the staff at the Baxtergate shop, as well as Liz, for helping me to surprise my husband on his birthday. I had ordered a cake from them and wished for it to be brought out with candles on. The lady carrying it even sang Happy Birthday along with me! The staff were very... read more

As previous review we can't believe the number of times we have visited Whitby and not been here. What a find a traditional tea room with lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. We had plough mans and pork pie salad which were both really tasty and served with fresh bread and hot tea. Will visit again when back in Whitby.

Our first visit to Bothams Tea Rooms. Can't believe we haven't been before. Lovely warm, cosy ambiance and friendly efficient staff. Excellent crab sandwich, tasty cheese scones and a tasty, hot cups of quality tea. Definitely be back again.

We visit Whitby every year and always call in here. Classical tearoom upstairs above the shop. Attentive service, good range of teas and coffees and food appropriate to the Time of day. We tend to morning coffee or afternoon tea so cannot speak for lunches. Always good in quality, value and service. Their own cakes and tea breads especially. We... More

My wife & I took the (rare) opportunity of a parking space in Skinner St to go in for our lunch - she is recovering from a knee replacement, &, having just walked the length of the W Cliff & back, did not fancy the steep hills to or from the harbour side. We ordered soup, followed by fresh crab... More

Bothams serves the locals well, serving plain well cooked yorkshire food at reasonable prices. The tea menu is extensive offering 20+ different types including some exotic teas served in a glass. The decor is very 'Betty's tea room' with crisp white table cloths and waiteresses with white aprons. So if you fancy a good plain lunch or an afternoon tea,... More

We love visiting Bothams on Skinner Street, a charming old-fashioned looking tea room, not unlike Bettys in Harrogate or York, but without the pretentiousness. Whenever we are in Whitby (3 or 4 times a year), we head straight to Bothams and just keep going back, because it can’t be beat. The breakfasts are delicious with the best poached eggs ever... More

This is an 'old fashioned' restaurant but one beautifully furnished offering a wide range of delicious snacks and main course meals. The roast of the day is always good as are the sweets, especially the sponges served with custard. The only minor downside is that because of its popularity, you may have to stand in a queue for a while.

The old fashioned feel to this restaurant is lovely, just what we like. The afternoon tea is gorgeous, we always visit bothams when we go to Whitby.

We discovered the tea shop in Whitby following a visit to the branch in Pickering. It really is lovely with the presentation and quality of an age gone by . Food was excellent, staff polite and a vast choice on the menu. If your visiting Whitby or Pickering make a point of visiting this Restaurant.
