Botham's has another branch on Baxtergate: this one is the original one. The tea rooms are above the shop, and all the way in staff are in uniform. A good menu that covers different tastes is actually bettered by what is served. Sandwiches with exceedingly good fillings; tea served in proper tea pots with additional hot water; all on tables... Visited Elizabeth Botham & Sons on our day trip to Whitby. We were so happy to see how spacious it was, you rarely get that much space in a cafe nowadays. My aunt tried afternoon tea for the first time and it looked and tasted amazing. I had a jacket potato with prawns and it was equally good. Definitely a... More

Very nice place it's like going back in time to how rich people used to have lunch. The place is spotless and the staff are dressed in period costume as they would in those days. We had coffees and a sandwich which was very nice. There was a good selection of hot and cold meals. Will go back again.

This is a fab tea room with a wonderful menu, if you like old-fashioned, traditional fare. Everything is done beautifully. The simple food is delicious and the staff really helpful. All the food is made to order, apart from the cakes, which are some of the best around. There is also a wonderful tea menu and a restful (usually) atmosphere.... More

Skinner Street (not to be missed) was one of the routes we used to and from our B&B. We called in at Bothams for a cup of tea and cream and jam scones. It was a lovely, calming experience in tranquil and delightful surroundings. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean including spotless tables. There's a... More

We would take all of the contents of this shop home if we could! Wonderful cakes, pastries and other bakery delights. Everything tastes fresh, homemade, with a sprinkle of Whitby magic.

Visited with my lovely friend recently, we received a warm welcome from the staff. The display of cakes looked so tempting. We opted for cream scones, I can honestly say they were the best scones I had ever tasted. Beautiful food and friendly staff

Visited the Skinner Street tea-room to meet up with friends as it's well known tea-room. Tea and coffee with toasted teacakes, delivered promptly and with a smile. Very efficient staff and great tea.

We were in a long trail of traffic from just out of Guisborough so by the time we arrived in Whitby we were all very ready for a caffeine fix and a loo. Loved the atmosphere in Botham's tea room and the Ladies had a real powder room atmosphere. The coffee was excellent and so was the Shah Ginger Biscuit.... More
