Good food

Good pub food with friendly staff. Only pub left open in the village of Glaisdale. Sorry that the Anglers and Mitre Tavern pubs had to close. Greetings to all who remember us, Mike and Helen at the Mitre!

My wife and I recently booked a cottage in Yorkshire and it happened to be yards away from the Arncliffe Arms, we visited the pub everyday during our week long stay and had a very warm welcome from the proprietor (Neil) who advised us on local walks, other pubs and things to do, we also had some fantastic food and... This was a two night stay for my husband and I, and it was lovely. Good home cooked food and nice rooms, plus we could take our dog along with us, which was a bonus. The staff were friendly and we loved the area, very pretty.

Pleasant pub in a good location - not a very exciting menu, but good quality food in pleasant surroundings

Very friendly and helpful. Had a great steak and would recommend. The Black Sheep beer was just what my husband needed. Good portion size

Overall disappointing. Came here for a pre-theatre meal ( Esk Valley Theatre.. again excellent this year) and left feeling that the food was very average. Limited choice and served up with little finesse or imagination and of variable quality. A starter of plaice goujons was good, if scant as in three small pieces, but the pate which was supposed to... Great customer service and good food can be found in this pub. I'm sure that during the summer months they have many c2c walkers coming in trying to get a meal and we were not disappointed. A good and varied menu, good ale and a lovely waitress who could not have done more to make us feel valued and welcome.

we called at Arncliffe on a Friady night, we had been driving round looking for somewhere to eat, and being unable to find a table anywhere. We were not dissapointd. It was a veritable oasis, as we were hungry ,tired and fed up.The pub can best be descrbed as homly, not at all dirty, but rather lived in. We sat in... More

..ideal if you're visiting the "Museum of Victorian Science". It is only a short walk away and is excellent value for money.

Stayed here on our last night of Coast -to Coasting. The worst B & B of our walk. Room was extremely small, just space for a poor quality bunk bed, which had once been part of a pair, tatty bedside table. No wardrobe to hang clothes, just a couple of hooks on the wall. The bed linen was very suspect... More

We are very sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay. There is nothing much we can do about the size of the rooms as the Pub is 150 years old and the walls are 2 feet thick. The single rooms are an adequate size and for the price they are value for money compared to all other hotels and guest houses... More
