Used to be the best fish and chips in east yorks, after waiting over half an hour to get served we were v.disappointed. You could do better elsewhere. Get your act together Magpie Cafe.

Been here twice in the couple of weeks and both times was superb. To be fair i wouldn't wait in the ridiculous ques so we go at better times. Having been a number of times since being a kid, i can honestly say i have never had a bad meal. Im not sure where the bad reviews come from but... More

Service with a smile. Such a friendly and welcoming place. Great Fish and Chips and what seemed like a never ending pot of tea, all overlooking the Harbor.

Nice flavour chips and crispy batter but fish not as fresh as billed on web and publicity info. Mushy peas were fine, tho tartare sauce horrid an not worth 50p extra. Quite greasy so put me off finishing, but guess that's what f and c is all about. Fair play to them, tho, good menu and seemed popular!

We have eaten in this excellent harbour front restaurant many times and have always been very pleased with the choice of menu and the quality of the food. Unfortunately it is a victim of its own success and you may have to queue up to get in there in the peak period holiday times. The staff are very quick, efficient... More

Outstanding restaurant. Worth the long queues for fab food and good service. A little bit more expensive than expected, but lovely for a lunch stop by the sea. Fish and chips is a must, but the menu is quite extensive if you fancy something different. Lemon and lime cheesecake was delish too. Would definitely eat here again!

The Magpie is a good restaurant but I would never queue and in any case I prefer the much more spacious better placed "Trencher's fish restaurant". Meat also served. Food is unfailingly excellent with friendly staff. This a spotlessly clean, well run restaurant of many years standing .I have been dozens of times and never had a poor meal, fresh... More

Title says it all. If I'm ever in Whitby this is the first place I will head to. Have been going for 20 years at least to the Magpie and the fish and chips are always absolutely delicious. Choice of fish is always high quality and fresh and I love the way they do the chips there. Although it isn't... More
