I have given this 5 star because that where it ranks in a small town like Whitby; really 4 stars anywhere there is masses of good competition. We had to wait in a queue outside but have been many times before and we knew it was well worth the wait. Fish and chips are amazingly cooked to perfection. We love this place as the staff are very efficient.

Difficult to access if you have difficulty with steps/stairs. Once inside you will be treated as royalty, since service is a by word here, along with quality fresh fish. Many serve up fish and chips in Whitby but few can exceed the range of menu and choice of fish available.

I really don't know what all the fuss is about. I got the Cod and Chips, the fish was overdone and very dry and the chips just about saved the day.

We were looking forward to enjoying an excellent meal at this popular restaurant. Our party of four each ordered the haddock and chips and as anticipated, the fish was white and flaky but unfortunately completely and utterly tasteless... in fact one of our party was also disappointed to find the fish 'wet'. What a shame!

We queued in 25 degree heat for around 20 mins to get in, part of me wanted to just go somewhere else but a bigger part of me wanted to see what the fuss was about. There were 4 adults and 2 babies and from the outside I was worried about it being really cramped and too hot for little... More

We went here on the hottest day of the year (so far) and it was amazing. My husband and Auntie had the fish and chips - the portions are really big so I hope you are hungry when you order and I had the Goats cheese salad which was lovely, we would of liked a dessert but there was no... More

Although most people come for the amazingly good fish and chips, this is also a very good fish restaurant with some excellent fish dishes using the fantastic fresh fish which has been sourced from, well, just across the road in the wholesale fish market. I had a terrific 'seafood pot' with salmon, halibut, prawns, mussels and clams with samphire in... More

The fish was white, flaky and absolutely melt in the mouth. I also went for the northern option of gravy on my chips, and they were absolutely delicious. And the gravy was put on so perfectly, it didn't get anywhere near the battered fish. My husband had the normal fish and chips (no gravy) and was equally delighted.
