I had a jacket potato with cheese and my partner had chips. Overall it was alright. No butter on my potato though :( Milkshake was quite nice Overall just average meal out
This is one of the worst meals we have ever had. We order 2 courses and we had to wait 45 mins for our first course to arrive. The place is a bit of a shambles. One of the chefs constantly was running up and down the stairs beside us which was really annoying. Other people had already left and... More
Frozen chips, scampi, fish 'bits'. Fish is from Iceland but it's the store. Fish pie was 2 layers of sliced (slightly hard)potatoes and minimum filling of fish. Staff apologetic regarding our truthful comments.
Having read other reviews on here I have to admit I've never had anything other than 'tea' items from here, scones, cakes, tea, coffee etc so can't comment on other menu choices but as a cafe fora mid morning pick me up it really hits the spot. A great scone and pot of tea with great service for relatively low... More
Having taken my niece and nephew and their 3 children to Whitby after a day on the railway, I had promised them the best fish and chips in the UK. When I arrived I had no idea were to take them when I passed the Gatsbys, there was no room down stairs so was asked to go upstairs. The room... More
Lovely food, good value and friendly helpful staff. Fantastic views from upstairs too. Well worth a visit.
Im from Northern Ireland and have to agree with those that are commenting truthfully about Gatsbys food being unedible. I once had chips/burger/mushy peas from there. the chips were hard, the burger had grease freely flowing from inside it and the mushy peas were, well looked they had been cooked in water from the river esk.. the customer service is... We were advised by the staff earlier in the day to reserve a table if we wanted to dine the same evening which we did. We expected it therefore to be a popular restaurant. However through the duration of the meal there were many empty tables and we were there till it closed. With hindsight this is no surprise. The... More
Called on a busy night and managed to get a table with no booking. A reasonable menu offered a decent range of food which was served quickly and piping hot. we tried the Whitby Breaded Scampi which was well presented and a generous portion. The premises are well decorated with a golden age of Hollywood theme with pictures of Bogart,... More
I read a lot if reviews on this restaurant before I went and it was only a recommendation from a friend that made me go because people had not been kind about this place. No it isn't anything very special or different than others, but what it is is the cheapest and most reasonable priced place I've been to in... More
