You can have mash or peas and gravy or both with a choice of home-made style pies. The pastry is deliciously crusty and rich. I had the lamb, leek and rosemary and it was wonderful. The pies are served in enamal dishes. The decor is retro. Definitely one I shall revisit.

Don't ask for chips or sweet potato mash, like the table opposite did, they don't serve it.. Just great pies, creamy mash, peas and lovely gravy.A good choice of fillings, our table tried the mince and onion, chicken and cider and black pudding and sausage... All delicious. Each meal was served fantastically quick and cost only £6.99 each.. Great filling food for... More

I went with a family, mum, Dad, two teenage girls. I had the goats cheese & veg pie, the others a variety of the meat options - served with a portion of fresh peas (not tinned thankfully) and mashed spuds. For £6.99 we we were very happy. We took advantage of going over the road to the Endeavour to get... More

After reading excellent reviews I decided to visit with family on our Summer holiday. We understood how busy the restaurant is and only waited 10-15 minutes for a table which was less time than expected. The restaurant is decorated with 40s/50s bits and the historical context was interesting. We also loved the separate rooms with tables. The poor waitress was... More

Little place in a cute old building, but there is more room upstairs. Atmosphere is cosy and welcoming and the food- mostly pies, mash and peas appear really quickly because it's all ready to go behind the counter. Pies are served on enamel pie plates which allow plenty of room for gravy and somehow this gives a kind of 1940s... More

For the price, our pie and mash meals were excellent. Service was friendly and fast. Atmosphere and decoration had a 1940’s/50’s feel. Loved it! An extra piece of information: we were in the restaurant for about 30 minutes during a very busy time and I observed the owner having to deal twice in this short space of time with difficult...
