A must stop on any visit to Whitby, Quirky surroundings, quick service and quality fare. Do try a homemade scone
The strange thing about Whitby is that you will not find a single Starbucks, Costa or any other national chain. The reason - far too much local competition. Now, I know my coffee and I'm fussy with it. The £1-50 House coffee here is to die for - why oh why must so many places charge £2 plus for stewed... More
I dont know why we havnt been here on our previous trips but Im so glad we decided 'try' Sherlocks. We took a table on the third floor which was quieter we ordered sandwiches, tea and cake - totaly delicious. My sister came to meet us the following day and I couldnt get her in there quick enough - shes... More
Some of the best coffee and probably THE BEST carrot cake I have ever tasted, all served-up in the passable parlour of 221b: when you have eliminated other Whitby Coffee Houses, whatever remains, however improbable, must be Sherlocks!
Fell upon this place by chance on a weeks holiday in whitby, very nice, warm and hospitable place. service was excellent. prices were very good and what can I say about the cake 'yum, yum' Had a delicious hot chocolate as well. When we looked through the window it looked very full, but there are more seats than you think and we were seated on a table for four upstairs. This is a really lovely quaint place and the cakes are lovely as are the cream teas.We thought it was good value for money and will return on our next trip to Whitby.
I found this place by chance as I could not find the cake shop rated higher than this on trip advisor, and as I wad in a "got to have it now" mood we went in. Just myself and 7 yr old son.... I panicked at first as it looked very full but there are books and crannies all over... More
If you like a slice (slab) of cake, then this is the place for you. We called in one afternoon for a coffee and cake, and we were not disappointed. I had the lemon drizzle cake and my partner had the one with the maltesers on. The service was great, and the double expresso was out of this world. There... More
We loved this place, we found it by accident as we were staying at the "Sandpiper B&B" just round the corner and we saw the HUGE cakes they had in the window. I had a massive chocolate muffin with real cream in it and my husband had a standard muffin both so good. We didn't realise it was as large... More
Visited this coffee house on Friday - the rain was pelting down so we just ran into the first cafe we found and what a find! Very nice welcome - even though the place was packed we managed to find a table. I had a lovely homemade scone and my husband had toast and coffee. Would you please consider getting... More
