This is a beautiful tea room in Whitby. The building is amazing, a warren of nooks and crannies that wind back from the street and are candlelit. Friendly service, excellent coffe, tea and huge, delicious cakes and sandwiches. The best cafe in Whitby.

Sherlocks has been a regular tea shop of ours for many years and we have always been impressed by the food and the quaint decor. It really takes you back to Victorian times and has a lovely selection of cakes scones and sandwiches. On this occasion I had delicious humous and roast vegetables on onion bread. It was very filling... More

Popped into here for a quick coffee and cake. The service was good, the surroundings interesting and the cakes enjoyable. Would use this place again.

We were recommended Sherlocks for 2 reasons, they allowed dogs and the cake was scrummy, on those 2 points yes its great. Very dark however this wasn't a problem for me, we tried once and the downstairs was full but did have somewhere to go so asked if we could reserve a table, to which we received quite an abrupt... My husband and I visited Sherlocks as we had heard they were dog friendly, and we had our miniature schnauzer with us. The cafe is a lovely quirky place, with lots of Sherlock Holmes details. We found it very interesting as we are both Sherlock Holmes fans. Dogs are allowed on the ground floor only, and we found a lovely... More

Sherlocks is a lovely little place; the decor is perfect and quirky - you get the feeling that Holmes would approve. There are a few tables downstairs and more upstairs in Watson's Parlour. Tea and coffee were well needed as the streets are very steep in places! The cakes and soup were excellent. Highly recommended.

We stumbled across sherlocks, we got a comfy seat in a corner of the quirky tea shop. Surrounding us were shelves of old books, old machines and everything that reminded us of Sherlock. We had a delicious scone, and tea. This is the best tea shop I have ever been to I loved it so much. If you happen to... More

Really unusual cafe with nice relaxed environment and child (and dog!) friendly. Decent lunch and extensive array of superb looking cakes (the waitress forgot to bring ours with our drinks so didn't get to sample but in fairness she was rushed off her feet). Would visit again though as the scones and carrot cake looked fab!

Sherlocks Coffee House is very hard to find,up a side street but follow the whale bones and you're almost there. It's not very roomy and you may have a wait but the toasties and huge range of home made cakes are excellent. All set in a Victorian style house. You take a seat, order at the counter and wait for the good stuff to...
