This is a beautiful tea room in Whitby. The building is amazing, a warren of nooks and crannies that wind back from the street and are candlelit. Friendly service, excellent coffe, tea and huge, delicious cakes and sandwiches. The best cafe in Whitby.

My friend and I, on a coach holiday weekend, had time to spend in Whitby and we are glad we found Sherlocks. It's much bigger than what is seen on entry, go to the back or upstairs! Full of interesting artefacts to entertain you. Our scones were still warm and very tasty and coffee fine. Thank you for a lovely... More

We had breakfast here - limited menu if you want breakfast but good if lunch is your thing. The selection of tea was good. My toast took a long time to arrive, my partner had finished his toastie when mine came but to be fair they were having an apparent toaster problem. Reasonably priced.

Great atmosphere and authentic location.....the tea rooms were exactly as you would expect if you were walking into Sherlock Holmes's house.....added bonus of being more reasonable that high street coffee shops

Absolutely no where to wait when you go in and there are no tables ready although the cctv screen showed there were plenty of tables upstairs? We where initially asked to wait outside even though it was freezing cold. We stood inside near the door for a while but soon realized we where not welcome as the lady on the... More

Very quaint and quirky coffee shop, a lot better than you sub standard over priced large american chains who take tour money and refuse to pay uk tax. However this little gem could be so much more if the staff put in a little more effort. Overall a good place for a quiet coffee.

What a lovely, warm, interesting building, with food & coffee to match. Very friendly staff, who didn't mind us looking around the place before we chose our table. Choice of drinks, snacks & cakes brill. An added bonus for our next visit is that dogs are allowed on the ground floor...we'll definitely return.

I visited Sherlock's with a friend for lunch, we sat in the back room where it was warm and peaceful. Everywhere you look in this room there is something of interest to see. I was fascinated by 'The Cupboard' you could sit in, unfortunately it was unavailable due to water damage. The menu is limited but there is something for... More

This was my first visit to Sherlocks and I wasn't disappointed. It is quirky, eccentric and quaint with nooks and crannies galore! The choice of scrummy cakes means it took ages for me to choose but opted for the delicious carrot cake and a hot chocolate. Divine!
