We arrived in Whitby after a journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam hauled. Having escaped the many seagulls of Whitby the food, ambience and calm of this coffee house was most welcome. Highly recommended.

What an amazing little gem - we loved it here! Packed with books, curios and artefacts all around; it felt like visiting the cosy home of someone like Sherlock Homes. Velvety seats and lovely rooms, it has a wonderfully quaint atmosphere and we could have spent an hour or two just enjoying tea and conversation here! The service was very... More

Home made scones, jam, cream and a pot of tea - a wonderful recipe for the finest afternoon tea. This quirky coffee house has a great atmosphere - well worth a visit.

We needed a quick 'pick me up' before we climbed the 199 steps and wanted shelter from the rain. We just had tea and a dessert to share which was easily big enough and could be too much for one person. No table service, you need to order at the counter but friendly/quick service. Not from the area but would... More

Excellent coffee and other brews. Nice food too. Charming, quirky café set over a couple of floors, full of nicknacks, very welcoming. Just the ticket after a brisk walk along the beach. It is tucked away on a backstreet rising up from the south side of the bridge going up to Westcliffe.

We have visited Sherlocks a couple of times previously and when we fancied a piece of cake one breezy afternoon we knew where to head for! I had a raspberry & white chocolate muffin with fresh cream (it was huge!) and my husband had the lemon drizzle cake, both delicious as always.

Walked past and the scones in the window caught our eye. Went back in the afternoon for an earl grey and a scone. Family of 4 plus the dowg, given a warm welcome. Yorkshire cream tea and hot chocolates didn't disappoint. Really quirky, and stylish, with quality food and service to match. Scones define and fresh
