Cosy and relaxing. As the name suggests Sherlock Holmes themed décor. Soggy settees and old books, great. Small so service was quickly at hand, pleasant young woman. The food was not the everyday offering for vegetarians the food I had was a great mix of flavours and well presented. Although didn't try there were nice looking cakes on offer.

We liked the look of this coffee shop from the outside so stopped for tea and cake with friends. We sat in a cosy little area near the back of the shop on a sofa. We all had delicious cakes and very reasonably priced too. I had lemon drizzle cake, very fresh and tasty and a huge portion! My husband... More

Visited on September 28th after seeing good reviews and thinking looked very quaint from the outside. First impressions were good, charming and characterful decor and a nice selection of cakes displayed. However, it was all down hill from there.. the staff, mostly angsty teenagers who should learn some basic manners, couldn't care less. Our table took 20 mins to be... More

Came here for lunch during our week break in Whitby . Coffee was very nice as were the sandwiches, both quality and quantity was high. Also very good value at £13 for two large lattes and 2 sandwiches, a lot cheaper than other places! Will be coming here again

Tea and Sandwiches, background music from the 1920s thought we travelled back in time. Slightly cramped, sat upstairs on chairs that I thought were going to collapse at any moment but it all added to the ambiance, Great.

I would normally tell anyone to go to Shelocks for coffee and cake as it was the best in Whitby. But on our last 2 visits the staff seemed to be very disinterested in serving customers. Today we ordered 2 coffees and 1 tea, coffess turned up okay but had to ask for the tea. We also ordered 2 scones... More

We visit ever time we go to Whitby, the cream teas are wonderful and the quaint surroundings are delightful. Not great for small children as no changing facilities though. You must visit when in Whitby.

Lovely coffee house, great atmosphere if a little cosy. We had a lovely lunch here with coffee and cake. Would definitely recommend!

Visited here and thoroughly enjoyed. Husband had cake and I had an ice cream sundae. Both were generous in portions and really tasty. Staff were friendly and the service was efficient. Had to change my little boys nappy on the floor of the upstairs Resturant was only downside but not unusual for Whitby which is full of old buildings and... More
