gorgeous home made cakes

Called in late for a drink after a long walk on the Cleveland Way. No scones left as a but late but opted for cakes and hot chocolate. Hot chocolate was great, being served with marshmallows. Very hot and very tasty. Hubby not a lover of marshmallows so was given a biscuit instead - a nice... read more

Looked intriguing from the outside, art work good but little atmosphere in the cafe section. Plus lots of steps to negotiate.

So calm and relaxing above the bustle of the street. The Art Cafe is somewhere I return to time and time again. Lovely owners, fabulous artwork and really tasty food. The peanut butter and apple sandwich sounds curious but tastes magnificent. Free wifi and a laid back atmosphere The Art Cafe is a must if you want to get away... More

We visited twice during our week long stay and would have liked to visit a third time. The soups are very good and together with the bread are very filling. The cakes are delicious, particularly the fruit cake which we rated as the best we'd had in a long time. We were very pleased that we found this cafe and... More

Well actually an annual regular treat ! We always visit the art cafe when we come to Whitby. The coffee is good and the kids love the milkshakes. Overall I also think it is very good value, £1.80 for an Americano is competitive . The surroundings are also good, plenty of magazines, cosy sofas , Wifi and art work to... More

We found this place purely by accident on a quick visit to Whitby. We wanted a coffee and a quiet break from the surging mob that Whitby draws unto itself. You might miss it because it is upstairs but worth the search. A real oasis of calm with a modern touch - losts of good quality art (paintings, sculpture and... More

Finally we have found a place in Whitby that serves excellent coffee! We have tried just about everywhere and this is the best. Others are watery, bitter or tasteless. The owners are really lovely and welcoming and the surroundings (an art and craft gallery) are relaxing and inspirational.
