Had the small cod and chips, more than ample for a light lunch, and the cod was fresh tasting and delicious. The premises was smart and scrupulously clean, service was friendly and efficient. Good value, would recommend

Once again we had the best cod and chips with mushy peas here. Food is always fresh and comes out quickly to your table. Always made to feel welcome as the staff are friendly and very good at what they do. We will be back again and again and again!

It was a lovely early January day and, since we had nothing else planned, we decided to make the 150 miles round trip to have a fish lunch at the Magpie Restaurant in Whitby. Unfortunately, like most of Whitby, the Magpie was closed so we were grateful to find that Hadleys Fish Restaurant had bucked the trend. We were pleasantly... More

I have visited this restaurant a dozen or so times. The food has always been good quality. Service is excellent, once when I was having a hypo the staff could have not been more attentive. We did not leave for a good hour after finishing our meal, and the staff just kept bringing drinks, bless them. Value is good. Restaurant... More

Went to this restaurant since the Magpie was closed having travelled from Leeds to go there, with no indication on their website of closure dates. So, annoyed, went to Hadley's instead and was not disappointed; a fellow diner assured me that this was better than the Magpie. I couldn't argue on quality; the Large Haddock being light, crisply battered, and... More

After a very short wait we were seated right towards the back of the shop. Didn't realise it went back that far.!! Even though the place was busy, we were served straight away and being hungry were please when 5 mins later our order arrived. Food was hot, non greasy and very tasty. Lovely fish and chips. Quick service and... More

We always have our Fish and chips at this restaurant because they are always tasty, clean and beautifully cooked. Whether it is small medium or large with bread butter and a lovely cup of tea. We see people queuing outside the competition restaurants of the Magpie and Trenchers but my mam always ate at Hadleys and we have never had... More

Right in the heart of Whitby, this lovely establishment somehow achieves an air of calm. I took my wife and two young kids there for tea. The food was lovely, the staff were really nice, prices were very good (my bill was less than £25 and we all left quite content). The laid back atmosphere would make it equally suitable... More

You can not visit Whitby without tucking into a plate of fish, chips & peas and yesterday was no exception. A very busy, bright and cold winters day in Whitby and you can spot the good chippy's by the length of the queue's outside. The Magpie and Trenchers both had long queues and because it was so cold we decided... More
