We were in Whitby for the day and fancied fish & chips. We queued up outside Hadleys and after about a five minute wait was shown to a table. I ordered the large cod & chips and the wife had the 'usual' size of the same. We both also had mushy peas. She had a coffee and I had a... read more

Well, after 53 years I finally get to Whitby to try some of the heralded Fish and Chips. Hadleys has been recommended by a friend many times who says it the best one there (there are a lot) and the best he's had, so me and my friend paid a visit. We both had the Large Cod meal and we... More

Just like to say a big thank you for returning my husbands phone. He left it behind and you very kindly returned it all the way to Essex. Nice to think there are some honest people around. Thank you again. By the way my.husband said the fish was the best he'd tasted.

My wife and daughter had fish + chips that they enjoyed with the cod being thick and chunky, I do not like fish so had the steak pie + chips which was a real belly fuller, friendly staff and a great clean and welcoming environment

Really nice meal on a busy Saturday afternoon. Food was lovely and the service was very good with the exception of a couple of minor issues. All in all a nice visit.

Always busy so might be a bit of a queue. There was 7 of us so we reserved a table and returned after a wander which worked out very well. Fish was cooked to perfection, may be could have done with a few more chips. Definitely worth a visit.

I have been here twice now and on both occasions the food was excellent. The restaurant is in a prime place (on the corner of the hub of the town centre) and is easy to find. Not the biggest place in the world but easy to get seated and the food is the best fish and chips i've ever had.

Ordered the £9.75 cod and chip meal - with medium cod and chips, mushy peas (extra £1) , pot of tea (6 cups!) and bread. The fish was cooked perfectly the chips well cooked to. The surroundings were pleasant and the staff helpful and chatty. Only asked once if we were enjoying it (a big plus point). All very good... More

As the riverside fisheries was not open before my last train departed this was a chance lunch. Fish ok but batter not as crispy or as tasty as I was hoping for and chips similar lack of crispiness. Nothing wrong with anything just nothing above average for me. Fed the inner man but did not add a smile!!
