Beckett's is a small, family-run, dog-friendly coffee shop off the beaten track in lovely Skinner Street. We serve a small but ever-changing menu made from local ingredients where possible including delicious soups and 'beckanini' - which are large, soft and not gum-cloggingly dry. Our cakes are all sticky and home-made using real butter and free-range eggs (the rhubarb and custard cake is a favourite) and new this year are home-made cookies. The coffee is delicious and all Fairtrade.

Wonderful dog friendly place, my favourite coffee shop in Yorkshire

This is always my favourite place to go if I'm in Whitby. Fantastic coffee, delicious soups and the most amazing cakes. Take a friend - so you have someone to share cake with! It is always friendly and if I'm on my own there's always someone to chat to. They also make dogs very welcome - perfect!

Tho yes you can take your dogs in here , it's not a case of that when you can't get In with your own well behaved dogs when there's a customer already in there with a teeth showing ,barking little dog ,who's owner was oblivious to what it was doing . And thought it's behaviour was quite alright even tho... More

I love a good dog friendly cafe and this certainly is. The staff are very welcoming to everyone. They have a variety of cakes and sandwiches. Soup of the day was lovely and the staff even offered more bread and butter when we ran out. The walls are lined with all sorts of second hand books - I couldn't resist... More

Stopped here for lunch and was really impressed with the lovely warm welcome we were given (including our dog Maisie). The soup (spicy coconut, chickpea and lentil) was gorgeous and my other half spicy Dragon sausage 'beckini' got top marks too. The staff were all very welcoming and they obviously had many regular customers who they were on first name... More

Usually have a coffee at the seafront cafes but having now acquired Archie , our dog , we needed a dog friendly venue. Following trip advisor we found Beckets and have discovered another Whitby gem.A warm Yorkshire welcome awaits as well as great coffee and scrumptious cakes. An offer of a side extra shot of coffee meant I had the... More

Cosy and very friendly cafe. Can recommend the homemade soups (choice of three, all veggie including one vegan) and the very rich cakes. We forgot the advice about sharing one slice but the leftovers were packed up for us without even having to ask. Suspect sometimes they have more dog customers than humans...

Great Café in Whitby and very dog friendly! The cake is delicious but I would recommend starting with one slice between 2 people as very generous portions. Mocha was made with real hot chocolate and a great size. Our dog was made to feel very welcome (especially the treats) and the staff were very friendly. Great atmosphere and I will... More

From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed! They found a suitable corner table for me and my two dogs, and quickly fetched a water bowl and dog treats for my pooches. Love this touch! A perfect menu- soups, or Beckettinis (there version of panini), and Cakes. I went for bowl of thick, hearty lentil and tomato soup with... More
