Beckett's is a small, family-run, dog-friendly coffee shop off the beaten track in lovely Skinner Street. We serve a small but ever-changing menu made from local ingredients where possible including delicious soups and 'beckanini' - which are large, soft and not gum-cloggingly dry. Our cakes are all sticky and home-made using real butter and free-range eggs (the rhubarb and custard cake is a favourite) and new this year are home-made cookies. The coffee is delicious and all Fairtrade.

If you want a nice hot drink and a huge slab of cake, the best place in Whitby to go is Beckett's! Dogs welcomed too! Staff are always friendly. However, they are closed on Wednesdays.

We popped into Beckett's for a coffee after a long walk with our greyhound. We were welcomed in, especially Willow, who was provided with a blanket to lie on, fresh water and a little treat straight away. The coffee was excellent and the cafe has a lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

We have visited Whitby many times but never noticed this cafe. So pleased we found it on a walkabout. What a friendly welcome and lovely choice of cake with far to many to choose form. We settled for orange & chocolate. Good choice, moist with plenty pieces of chocolate and as we usually share a piece it was cut in... More

This homely coffee shop is a little piece of 'me time'-even when I'm with my husband. It has a great atmosphere, fantastic freshly baked cakes and also allows dogs. The menu albeit small is fresh and seasonal making the whole thing a real lovely treat.

We live about 20 miles from Whitby and do our weekly shop in the town.It is always our first choice to get a light lunch and coffee. The staff really know what they are doing, the atmosphere is good, and a selection of second hand books, all it seems worth reading, add to that sometimes indefinable feel good factor. The food, and we are not talking... Great choc orange cake and coffee. I like the friendly and informal atmosphere and the room layout. Not so sure about the dogs but that's me.

Found reviews on here as we were looking for a dog friendly cafe. We stopped by for a cup of tea (would have loved to have tried the food but were still full of fish n chips!).
