Beckett's is a small, family-run, dog-friendly coffee shop off the beaten track in lovely Skinner Street. We serve a small but ever-changing menu made from local ingredients where possible including delicious soups and 'beckanini' - which are large, soft and not gum-cloggingly dry. Our cakes are all sticky and home-made using real butter and free-range eggs (the rhubarb and custard cake is a favourite) and new this year are home-made cookies. The coffee is delicious and all Fairtrade.

The best coffee shop in Yorkshire!!!!

This is our favourite coffee shop in Whitby. Dog friendly, people friendly and it serves delicious food! The soups are amazing, the cakes are amazing (huge servings too) and the dog always gets a warm welcome, water and a treat. Very salty food, had lunch here and wished that we had gone somewhere else. The staff were too busy discussing what they had been doing the night before to be bothered with customers. Is it a book shop or a cafe, again not really sure it knows. Also why to they allow dogs in, it is not pleasant sitting there... More

Went here for lunch yesterday. Quite expensive for extremely salty food. Would not go back and they seem very up themselves.

We visited both days of our stay in Whitby, great choice of cakes (all home-made) and they taste delicious and all served with a smile. Highly recommend!

On holiday in Whitby with our dog and popped in for a quick tea and cake. What a nice surprise dogs truly welcomed with a bowl of water and a treat. Then the food, truly delicious lots of butter on the crumpets, the Beckinini's were as advertised and truly delicious. The staff are all friendly and welcoming nothing too much... More

Small but worth waiting for a table. Their paninis are special, very thick and full. ALways a great atmosphere and I love the fact there are books on the shelves to read or buy. Vegetarian but a fab experience for non-vegetarians. A visit to Whitby is incomplete without a meal here.

Wonderful dog-friendly, human-friendly cafe. Astonishingly mouth-watering selection of cakes, and a vibrant and welcoming environment.

We were so glad we meandered through Whitby, rather than took the steep steps back up to the whalebone. Because we stumbled across what is possibly the best little coffee shop I've ever visited. Let me set the scene. On a weekend break in North Yorkshire I was quite shocked by the number of coffee shops and cafes that weren't... More

Go here hungry and indulge yourself in some very fine cakes, which change on a regular basis. We shared an Orange and Chocolate Bread & Butter pudding cake and a Lemon Poppy Seed. Huge slices, absolutely delicious.
