Beckett's is a small, family-run, dog-friendly coffee shop off the beaten track in lovely Skinner Street. We serve a small but ever-changing menu made from local ingredients where possible including delicious soups and 'beckanini' - which are large, soft and not gum-cloggingly dry. Our cakes are all sticky and home-made using real butter and free-range eggs (the rhubarb and custard cake is a favourite) and new this year are home-made cookies. The coffee is delicious and all Fairtrade.

Coffee Latte and cake

My Wife and I often visit here for coffee and home made cake, varying our choice of cake we try each time we visit. The coffee is lovely and the cake is "mmmm" scrumptious and the lime one we have just tasted yesterday was "mmmm" real tanyee... right up my wife's alley. We find the cake always very... read more

Made three visits during my stay in Whitby. Lovely lively and busy place with very pleasant helpful staff. Lots of books and even reading spectacles to borrow if you need some! Had lunch on two consecutive days and really enjoyed them. There own version of a panini, a beckonini much nicer than the former and good choice of scrumptious fillings.... More

We were in Whitby for the folk week. I promised myself I'd go to Beckett's everyday. Well, it's closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I couldn't get a table on Friday as it was busy. I did go on the other days plus I had a cake-away when I left Saturday. Best cakes in Whitby. Friendly staff. I wish I get... More

So warm and welcoming to all our family. Visited 3 times during the Whitby Folk Week. The staff were wonderful, especially with my grandchildren. Lovely coffee, smoked bacon and yummy cakes.

We always call in at Beckett's when we visit Whitby because they do such excellent cake and coffee. However, this time, Julie surpassed herself. She made a coffee cake for my husband because he loves coffee cake and when my slice of very yummy lime and coconut cake arrived, it had a candle in it for my birthday! How wonderful... More

This place is perfect. Excellent coffee, service and ambiance. The location on Skinner street is great, and the books and magazines top it off. It actually made me want to run a cafe!

This little cafe is a lovely, friendly and cosy cafe with lovely snacks and food and AMAZING cakes! After visiting Arnie's 'restaurant' in Whitby - which is an absolute disgrace - (the owner ought to be put down) we opted for the other side of the river. I ordered a goats cheese 'beckanini' which was delicious and very reasonably priced!... More

We called in here just after opening having arrived in Whitby early on a Saturday morning. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. No breakfasts as such but the paninis are fantastic, my wife had a slice of Blueberry and Vanilla cake - well we were on holiday! Staff had treats for our... More
