Description: Beckett's is a small, family-run, dog-friendly coffee shop off the beaten track in lovely Skinner Street. We serve a small but ever-changing menu made from local ingredients where possible including delicious soups and 'beckanini' - which are large, soft and not gum-cloggingly dry. Our cakes are all sticky and home-made using real butter and free-range eggs (the rhubarb and custard cake is a favourite) and new this year are home-made cookies. The coffee is delicious and all Fairtrade.

Arriving in Whitby around lunch time parked the car and went into Beckett's and ordered toasted tea cake, a dragon sausage beckinni and 2 coffees. The service was quick and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Listening to the local people we learnt that to park in Whitby you needed a parking disc in your car telling the wardens what time... More

Always go here when I am in Whitby. It is not on the main street but still pretty central at top of main hill and turn right. The service is friendly but the cakes are to die for. Yesterday it was lemon and ginger...absolutley delicious and moist.....well I had walked 6 miles from Robin Hood's Bay!

Found the place by chance just walking by and popped in for a coffee and was pleased by the friendly staff and good service. We had toasted tea cakes dripping with butter which were lovely and the coffee really tasted good. There were a couple of dogs in the coffee shop, some people would find this strange but in Europe... We were drawn to Becketts by the trip advisor reviews and oh boy we were not disappointed. It's a very small, slightly quirky tea room that focuses on exceptional Yorkshire hospitality, tea, coffee, cakes and light savoury food; oh and second hand books. They are also, pleasantly, dog friendly. Visiting the area with friends, it was time for a drink... More

This is a superb coffee shop, with excellent food and a genuinely warm welcome. Dogs are also welcome and get their own bowl of water! The range of food is excellent and the home made cakes are simply incredible and the portions are large. If you go to Whitby, this is a one place you must visit. During Goth weekend, it... More

We went during Whitby Goth weekend and it was ludicrously busy but the staff were friendly and attentive! I had the crumpets as they were all I can squeeze in the corset... They are listed as being served with 'too much butter' and they arrived quite literally dripping! Absolutely lovely! Oh, and it is dog friendly too so we had... More

Tried out Becketts after reading reviews and the fact that dogs are welcomed and was not disappointed. Staff made us and our dogs welcome the dogs even got their won bowl of water and a treat. Food was fantastic, tasty, filling and the cakes are to die for. Couldn't eat all of our meal and was offered a bag to... More

a really nice experience - friendly staff and excellent service. great that there are more and more places accepting dogs, its usually their owners who are to blame for any bad behaviour.
