Despite it's unusual location ( in an ordinary row of shops), this is well worth a visit. Attentive but not intrusive service, good quality food and great value deals. Home made bread and nibbles, wide range of drinks - and much more sophisticated food than elsewhere in Whitby. well worth searching out.

A little friendly place that doesn't try too hard, doesn't crowd in the tables and serves extremely high end food. You wouldn't think anything of the facade, but you will be welcomed with open arms and treated to some amazing food & wine - you must try the varying desert platter!

Good food, nice wine with good attentive service, the olives and falafel while we picked from the menu was a nice touch, then food was good particularly the tasting plate for dessert almost too good to share.

A Warm welcome with complimentary olives really sets the mood. The choices on the main menu were varied and the addition of the chef's specials really spoilt us for choice. We were visiting England from California. Along with friends we spent a fantastic evening at Number 4, the food was delicious. This a must go back to restaurant on our next visit to Whitby. Thanks to partners Maureen & Hugh for your special attention & service, we had such a pleasant evening!

We mentioned that one of us was vegan when we booked, and arrived to a variety of menus - including a vegan one which was so enticing that a number of us chose from it. Service was wonderful; food excellent; table square rather than oblong - brilliant for a party of 7. Highly recommended!
