Been twice in last few weeks first visit was a sit in meal after a few drinks, we ate desserts, starters the lot. Good service and very nice food. We left absolutely stuffed after leaving and thought that it was all first class. Then next visit we tried the take away and it was a million miles different, we ordered... More

Three of us spent a few days in Whitby, and were very nearly put off eating at Passage to India. On our last evening we decided to try it, and we enjoyed some of the nicest tasting Indian food we've eaten for a long time. We began with the bog standard poppadums and Patak jar chutneys, then had three different... More

Had the meal for 4 to take away for £40. It was great that there was a choice from the menu and not a just set meal. So mush food, enough to feed five or six. The food was great the service was great and the staff were very friendly.

Clean, good food and service for both seated dining and takeaway. No matter if you are dining alone or with a large group the restaurant's standards are consistently high.

We were in Whitby for 8 nights and ate out at a different restaurant every night. This one was by far the worst and the only meal that I actually did not eat. Staff were very unfriendly and my husbands starter arrived so quickly that it must have been pre-cooked and kept warm. Vegetable pakora which looked remarkably like onion... More

Visited with a good friend a few days ago; restaurant was reasonably busy for a mid-week off-season night (usually a good sign). Our drinks and food were served to us promptly and the food was very tasty; portion sizes were more than adequate and the menu descriptions proved to be accurate (in terms of spice heat level). Would visit again.

We visit Whitby at least once a month and have always had our Friday night meal in the passage to India for the past 6 years. The food has always been great, staff friendly and accommodating. We have taken many friends with us over the years and have provided positive feedback on trip adviser several times in the past. Our... More

As locals we visit passage to India quite regularly be it a takeaway or for a meal in the restaurant. The food is always spot on and you know what your getting. The staff are friendly and attentive, other that the English woman who works there who has no customer service or people skills what so ever and is the... More

We have used this restaurant now for some 14 years, and I would say that to begin with (in 2000) it was very good. Over the years we have eaten both in the restaurant and had take outs, and I have to say that it has gradually declined during that time. I seems to us that this restaurant needs a... More

I dined at Passage to India with my partner last Friday night for our 3 year Anniversary. I made a reservation by telephone just in case we turned up and there were no tables available. We arrived around 6:30pm and it was already quite busy. The décor inside the restaurant was lovely. The restaurant looked clean, modern and appealing. We... More
