We have been out for a meal to The passage to India tonight and had a great experience and tasty meal. The service was very attentive, no waiting, and were shown to our seats within seconds of entering the restaurant. ,Staff were very helpful and the meal was prepared whilst we ate popadoms and pickles. The main course was hot... More

Visited with friend for his birthday. Had a a setpriced meal for two, complicated as friend is vege, so all dishes had to suit. But this was no problem, except the staff seem a little puzzled by the concept of putting dishes between two people for them to share! Great food, well cooked and heated, tasty, plenty (though we left... More

Four of us visited for our evening meal here on the 4th September. The service was really quick and efficient, the food plentiful and delicious, and the ambience and decor really tasteful. The curries were very authentic, plenty of spices and the smell as we walked in was mouthwatering! We will definitely go again when we return to Whitby next... More

September 23rd for a curry. Found that only the Passage to India in business still in Whitby as they have bought several others and it seems have closed them down. Decent surroundings but staff more interested in talking to themselves than customers and a so called medium curry that's never seen a chilli Not an experience to be recommended -... More

Title says it all really - we thoroughly enjoyed our family meal at this restaurant. Staff were courteous, friendly & efficient. Food was well-seasoned, plentiful & main curries served in remarkably cute little metal buckets - only a trivial thing but they really were quite attractive - never seen them before. Not the most amazing flavours I've ever had at... More

We visited Whitby for the first time on Saturday 13th September and had a walk around the marina. We fancied a curry and asked a local's advice. He said there were only 2 curry restaurants in Whitby and suggested, the "Passage to India" in Windsor Terrace, adding that it wasn't very good and that he went to Leeds for a... More

We visited here on Thursday 11th September. It wasn't over busy as we ate early evening. Pleasant staff, very clean with a nice relaxing ambience. Food was above average portions to what we're normally used to and it had plenty of meat in it and not just loads of sauce. Tasted delicious too. A very pleasant eating experience. Top marks... More

Went here for a meal on a very busy Saturday night. Having been booked a table for 8 we got there and ordered a drink while the table was being made ready. Sat down by 8:15. 8:30 the drinks arrived. So not a great start. Having ordered popodoms we put a food order in. Once again, the service was disorganised... More

We popped in here for lunch one Saturday whilst visiting Whitby. We've had take aways from here before, but this was the first time we'd eaten in. My fiance ordered a king prawn curry and said that they were the nicest prawns he's ever had (and he has then anytime he sees them on a menu!). My lamb Rogan Josh... More

We had a little boy with us who wouldn't have been used to Indian cuisine. So they let us bring a pizza in from next door. That was a nice touch. So thanks lads. We were getting desperate!
