Great food and attentive service

I've eaten here a couple of times initially from a local recommendation, the staff are very friendly and helpful, good choice of local well kept real ales and very tasty home made proper pub food reasonably priced. The pub can be a little noisy, but it is definitely worth seeking out.

As the name implies a regular haunt of lawyers and court staff and surrounding offices. Great range if ales. The food is exciting and varied with daily specials. Rabbit Pie on the 'A' board last week. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Hit the shops for the sales and decided to stop for a bite to eat on the way home, what a mistake stopping here, had beef and pork lasagne with chips and salad with sooooo much cheese on top it made the whole dish totally disgusting and swimming in this bright yellow gue which soaked into everything including the wilting... Dear Kaeen Many thanks for taking the time to post your first review on Trip Advisor; unfortunately for me it had to be a complaint about my business. I am so sorry to hear of your disappointing experience on Saturday afternoon. As grievances of this enormity have not been common in my 21 years at the Wig & Pen, I... More

Enjoyed the special for dinner, smoked haddock fishcakes with salad, and on tap, the local Aspall cider in this wood beamed pub near the Maids Head Hotel.

An all male group of eight of us dropped in after a day's golf to have a pint and check out the menu as an alternative to our hotel's expensive but uninspiring offerings and I was immediately impressed by the pub's character and the friendly welcome from the bar staff. There was a good selection of real ales on offer... More

Situated in the historic tombland area of the city in the shadow of the cathedral the pub is well worth a visit but the food is a little pricey and only average fare.

First visit. Felt comfortable as we walked in. Had reserved a table. Only negative aspect of the whole visit was the hard, no cushioned wooden seats (tough on old bones after an hour plus). But on to the meals, Absolute thumbs up for the pork belly and the steak & ale pie (extra gravy, plenty of veg). Relaxed, no rush... More

It wasn't only about the wonderful beer. I also enjoyed the environment of this old, traditional pub and my chat with the friendly barman, and the eccentric names borne by a variety of beers and breweries: Woodforde's, Humpty Dumpty, Little Sharpie, Southwold bitter, Lacons encore. I wholeheartedly recommend that you visit too.
