I visited this place a while ago and thought quality of food was very good. Returned yesterday and had a decent meal but thought it was expensive: charged £7.50 for Eggs (actually one egg) Benedict . The single egg had a hard yolk and was served with 2 rashers of bacon on a split bun. Still tasty but at £7.50... More

Food was delicious, fresh, and speedily served. Loved the music, the interior and the fact that this café is located on a residential street, where people can commune for a coffee. Staff are fantastically friendly, kind, accommodating, relaxed and generally good fun! Would go back again and again. Lovely Saturday morning treat.

The food was unquestionably delicious and very fairly priced, wasn't a particularly long wait either which is always nice and annoyingly infrequent these days, but not here. The reading rooms also happens to now be my #1 destination for hot chocolates, i'm not an avid coffee drinker (although my girlfriend is and she loves the americano), so i always get... More

Having lived and eaten my way around Norwich for twenty years, I was surprised and excited to discover The Reading Rooms on Nelson Street, to find out what this charming, quirky establishment had to offer. My disappointment in finding the food totally bland and overpriced (my friends bacon pancake also appeared to be made by a werewolf judging by the... More

£8.00 for the priviledge of burnt toast and rubbery scrambled eggs-no thanks.Owner is more than a little tetchy, all round strange behaviour from him actually.I don't give a damn if this is local,it's complete and utter tripe.

Myself and my partner went there for breakfast but to find that it was't open until 10.00am on Saturday even though on the website saids 9.00am so we had to waste 40 mins waiting outside. The decor is lovely, vitage/ shaby chic style but didn't feel that the artworks on the wall goes with the style they were hoping for.... More

Came here as my friend is a student living in Norwich and has been here before. Therefore I had high expectations and on entering the Reading Rooms for breakfast I was impressed. However, the menu was quite limited - I entered up ordering French toast sub the berry compote add bacon and an orange juice - To my disappointment the... More

Visited today having not been for a few months. Normally a really big fan but it fell short of the mark this time. The 'his breakfast' had bacon that had barely seen the heat, over cooked eggs and what I think was meant to be toast but in reality was sopping wet piece of bean covered bread. On a more... More

I have visited the Reading Rooms a number of times in the past year, and it has been consistently excellent. The staff are wonderfully friendly and conversational, the chef is a real character, and it is a pleasure to eat in a place with such a relaxed, friendly environment - it is very rare to find places with such charm.... I've visited the reading Rooms a few times hoping to discover a pleasant cafe with good food and a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately that has not been the case. Clearly opinions are divided and I hope for the Reading Rooms sake I've been unlucky and chosen 'off days'. On my visits I've found the food to be average to poor and... More
