A few of the reviews mention that the White Lion beat their modest expectations; perhaps that is working against them now. We went there for lunch based on Trip Advisor reviews. Two hot salads, two 250ml drinks. £17. To be fair the salads were great and the drinks were posher-than-average versions but it did leave us wondering how the prices... More

We were looking for a place to get a hot drink and a bite to eat and found The reviews for The White Lion Cafe on tripadvisor. I have to say all the positive reviews are right on the money. The quality of the food is outstanding, we sampled the amazing sausage roll and some of the various cakes. Everything... More

I had heard and read fantastic things about this place but on entering I was a little confused as to what was on offer. I had heard about English breakfasts but couldn't see any listed on any menu and in fact the menu on the wall didn't list very much at all. I would have loved some toast but the... More

Have visited this cafe a number of times. Really lovely atmosphere. Great freshly prepared food. Support this great independent cafe. Well worth a visit. Not easy to survive in these tough economic times. Don't go to the usual dull chains, try the White Lion!! Well done guys.

This hidden gem is the perfect cafe. It has a great ambiance, and attentive, young staff. The food is absolutely fantastic and uses local ingredients, as well as being reasonably priced. It has the owners' personality stamped all over the place which adds to the experience. The coffee and cakes are absolutely spot-on, and the lunches absolutely spot on, with... More

An amazing fry up using top quality ingredients, bit more upmarket than your normal greasy spoon, a real gem in the city centre

There's a sign outside the cafe that reads something along the lines of: 'You have to go up a set of stairs, but it's worth it!' - and it really is. Inside there are cards wishing the cafe owners well setting up their own cafe, a little plaque that reads 'All Because Two People Met and Fell in Love' and,... More

We stood outside wondering if we should go in. Someone delivering fresh bread (?) said, ' try it. It's run by a lovely young couple' so in we went. Couple of flights of stairs opens to a bright cheery room in which we we were the only people ..9.00ish on s Friday morning. Bacon roll and full English later, we... More

I love this place. Always my first choice for lunch/coffee in Norwich. Everything is home made and delicious. Love the 'gooey lemon slice' Please can I have the recipe? Good food, good prices and good service. Consistent. Keep up the good work!
