Busy and buzzy. But the food's a bit basic. And a bit carby. Gastronomique it ain't. Entertaining it is. Go for a casual sociable night out with your (non-gourmet) friends. Especilaly people with hearty appetites. Good fun.

I have visited Al Forno twice. The first time we made a booking earlier in the day only to be told we had no booking when we arrived. Apparently they were too busy, must have misplaced the booking sheet... However, we decided to give it another try booking 1 week in advance. We sat 'outside' under the tent. It was... More

A group of us italian's went to a friends birthday celebration at Al Forno , this restaurant was so busy, food was really poor, taste was not authentic and Atmosphere felt so rushed. Perhaps they need to slow down and stop jamming as many people into the restaurant and focus on the quality of food coming out of the kitchen.... More

The food was very average, We had calamari as starter and they were nice enough. We all had pizza and, although there was nothing particularly wrong with it, it didn't meet what I would regard as authentic Italian pizza standards. The service was very slow, we had to ask a couple of times for the table to be wiped and... More

Sat upstairs on a table for 8 and food was ok but nothing special. No atmosphere upstairs and service a bit hit and miss would not rush back as so many other places to eat in Wimbledon. Bit disappointed as know friends have had a nice meal there.

My wife and I live outside London and manage to visit our two sons and their spouses (who live in Wimbledon) once every couple of months. We've always made a point of having a meal at Al Forno's as we enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the good service. Back in June we were given a table in the outside... More

The restaurant was booked for my birthday meal by someone who had not been there either, so we were all going in blind. We'd booked for 10 but they didn't bat an eyelid when 11 of us showed up. The atmosphere throughout our meal ( 8 p.m. till close) was fantastic. Seems like quite a few people choose to spend... More

3 of us turned up about 2.40 in the afternoon. Having spotted the outdoor terrace be decked by hanging baskets across the road from the New Wimbledon Theatre. We were told we could have an outside table but warned the kitchen was closing at 3pm. We opted to stay and all ordered pasta dishes off the menu . The portions... More

Family run restaurant, people line up on the door at peak-time but they will always find you a table. The service is rustic Italian (they may should across the room) but this always adds to the experience. The food is simple but very tasty as Italian food should be. What really makes this restaurant is the buzzing atmosphere. On top... More
