Packed crowd both outside and inside, but able to self-serve a bottle of wine and cheese and baguette and grab a table inside. When you see the inside cave-like atmosphere, you can believe this is the oldest wine bar in London and that Samuel Pepys did live in the building. Friendly crowd and an easy walk from many sites nearby,... More

Visited Gordon's bar in the month of August, never planned to go there but there was a fault with the train station had to get off at embankment. Suddenly came across this narrow alley filled with people sipping wine and drooling on cheese. They have big wine cellars as tables in the narrow alley. Great to go in the evening... More

Recommended for our visit by someone who used to live in London. Didn't realize at first that it was the ENTIRE alley way outside as well! But we went in and ordered and paid for our cheese and bread and pickles, and then went to the bar and ordered and paid for our bottle of wine and then found ourselves... More

The atmosphere is excellent for a short time. You need to go to the bar and carry your own glasses and wine to your table which is ok if some one behind the bar would actually stop talking to their mates about what they did over the weekend and served their customers. This is only made worse in the food... More

We were lucky. We just walked by Gordon's wine bar and wondered why so many people were there in that narrow alley! But this Friday night we just had to join all those happy people. A good night out starts here and of course we came back Saturday. Great wine and just a great atmosphere is what makes a good... More

I have been here many times. The wine as you expect is really good and it's a fun place to come. The food is not great especially the hot food which is just left all afternoon under heat lamps. It is good value and fun so I will go back.

Gordon's is a London landmark. The words "favourite haunt" crop up in numerous reviews here, and rightfully so. Gordon's is an institution, and long may it remain so. The perfect place for a glass (or more) of vino if ever in the Charing Cross / Strand area. The atmosphere / decor (or lack thereof) is second to none and makes... More

Standing in front of Gordon's Wine Bar, you might decide to turn around and go somewhere else. DON'T! Let me tell you; I don't like wine. And in Gordon's, you either get wine or water. I happily drink my water there to allow myself and my friends a great experience. Claustrophobic? Don't go here. Not claustrophobic? You don't have an... More

We found the place through Tripadvisor, so we can hardly call it a discovery, but this is a fine wine bar, located in a wonderfully quirky place. Ordering is a challenge at peak hours when the crowd tends to spill over into the adjacent Embankment Gardens. Als enjoy some of the great cheeses and/or hams, but don't spend too much... More

Travel back in time - dark, dirty, noisy, hot but brilliant! Food great if you're a cheese and wine fanatic
