Atmospheric in Spades

Been here loads of times over the years. Never disappointed. Gordon's is atmospheric in spades. Wife & friend popped in at Midday for a couple of glasses of pre-lunch Merlot. Very nice but I wish they'd serve vin rouge in larger glasses. Still good fun & will be coming back for eons, hopefully

I hesitate with 3 stars. It's a lovely wine bar; candlelit, hidden away, not too crowded on a Friday lunchtime. I was having one of those lunches with a group of girlfriends; one that's meant to last an hour but inexplicably goes on all afternoon fuelled by a few bottles of white wine. It's a great location with a lovely... More

WOW, what a find. I have walked past this place so may times and thought 'one day I'll go in there and see what it's like'. Well, if you are the same, don't delay any longer. Its full of atmosphere, low dark arches, lit by candle light, rustic snack food, a wine list that is as eclectic as it is... More

This place is perfect on a hot summers day to sit outside with a great bottle of wine and a charcuterie platter. There is a wine there for everyone so even if you are fussy, there is a wine for you. We went with a group of friends however its a popular place for first dates and therefore people watching... More

Lovely to sit outside but the real treat at night particularly if it's not the best outside is to sit inside in the low ceiling cave like room what could be better than to share this experience over wine and a bit of charcuterie?

We were here after the London Marathon in April. It was crowded and a little loud. The atmosphere is unique and unique. You really feel like you are in a wine cellar. The wine selection is extensive. Be prepared, it is a WINE bar. No other liquor is sold.

Went with friends for a few drinks however most of us were unaware this was strictly a wine bar. The food I did not have but some in the group did and indicated it was very good. The Cellar is dark (candle light) and very, very tight quarters but could be very romantic as well, in the right company. BTW,... More

Gordon's Wine bar is a unique wine vaulted cellar..one of the oldest Wine Bars in London/UK..I love the dark cave like atmosphere which has seating in the caves which are candlelit.. There is a Huge selection of wine..port..sherry...and an excellent cheeseboard!! No beer though...but then again just as well as it attracts the right crowds..and is always a pleasure to... More

Was down for the weekend visiting friends, our first stop was this little wine bar, WOW! The place is amazing, wine was beautiful, as was the cheese! The little cavern at the back did have me ending up feeling a little claustrophobic but that was more to do with me being 6'3 and 2 bottles of wine down! Can't wait... More

It has character plenty and the wine is excellent as well as being well priced with a good taste range. If you haven't been and you like wine you have to tick it off the London bucket list. If you're like us you'll keep going back to start a Friday evening. Avoid busy times. Late spring is ideal as they... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
