Crazy busy place, full of groups having lots of wine and fun. Very nice outdoor setting, mired by far too many people. Getting to the loo was a joke (up a narrow stairs, through very long lines). Clearly it's popular. Wine selection pretty deep and broad.

So cosy and romantic, you enter a cavern dimly light by candles and is such a nice place to have a intimate glass of wine. Also great place for a group., did not try food this time but menu looked good.

Came across this place completely by accident whilst mooching around London off the beaten track. Very popular place - can see why - they only serve wine (and bottled water) of various types plus port etc - with a range of lovely food - ranging from cheese and cold meats platters through to hot home made food. Very atmospheric place... More

I meet my mates here about twice a year. Sherry comes from the barrel and champagne is currently £45 a bottle. In the summer we sit outside under green umbrellas and in the winter we lunch under the arches inside. The food is very reasonable priced with game pie being my first choice with endless salads from the salad bar. The... More

Introduced to Gordon's last night, it was a very hot night! Outside was packed, inside was calmer but pretty warm! Would highly recommend ! Can't wait to visit when it's cooler! Cheese was fab, as was the wine x

I have been there with my girl after the show at the Playhouse Theatre. We were looking for a nice place to have a drink and we found this hidden beauty. We had some Port straight from the barrel that was fabulous! We will come back for sure and soon!!

No one should visit London without paying a visit to this very old, very unique establishment, it is simply superb. The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff are friendly, the place is amazing inside and out but particularly inside and the clue is in the title, so,l the wine list is to die for! I adore this place and I will... More

I was told about this bar by my son and we made our way here one early evening. It is a bit off the street and one can miss it easily. Once you get there it is a different world. So cheerful ,so happy. Lots of youngsters. One had to get you own wine and cheese and finger food and... More

Iconic Wine Bar, possibly the oldest in London according to its own advertising. The building is part of Kipling House; its claim to fame is that both Kipling and Chesterton wrote some of their works within these walls. Both the dimly lit cave-like room and the outside seating area have their appeal. We loved the indoor vibe as well as... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
