Great atmosphere, with the candlelit alcoves and the busy tables outside. I love coming here with friends visiting London, the cheese boards to accompany your superb tasting wine is a great perk of this wine bar. Service is always friendly even though it is always rammed! Definitely worth a visit for a tasty bottle of wine with friends.

Culled this tip from a Lufthansa inflight magazine and took me 4 years to get here. Jam-packed, standing room only but truly worth it. A good pre-Covent Garden/Square Mile watering hole oozing with character. Reasonably-priced for the City & great atmosphere. Salut!

My wife and I were brought here by cousins that lived in the city. We never actually went inside (very busy after work) but shared a bottle of wine outside. It was such a cool spot, lots of people spilled out into the park as well as the patio. Great place to start a night out.

Great atmosphere. Great service. A great time. Always a good laugh. They will always have the wine you like, but try something new, with their recommendation, and you will always be pleasantly surprised! Love this place.

Great food, nice bottle of red, and we got a seat in the 'crypt'. Was very busy but well organised. You certainly get a sense of the age of the place and they have managed to keep the atmosphere and not modernised over the years. Nice terrace area outside too especially on such a lovely sunny afternoon that we had.

This is such a beautiful place, the wine selection is brilliant. The staff are great and helpful and many an hour can be spent sat outside in the garden area sipping wine and people watching as they walk past. Go its great!!

I agree with everybody regarding the atmosphere and what a great place it is to meet friends. However the staff are not very customer friendly - abrupt to say the least! We (myself, my wife and friend) also had the very unpleasant experience of having a food poisoning reaction early the next morning and throughout the following day due to... More

We met some friends here on a Saturday night. The place has a great atmosphere, really cool venue. The staff were freindly and helpful. We got a bottle of house rose. It was reasonably priced and tasty. It was really busy but we managed to get a seat outside. Only problem was, at ten o'clock they closed half the terrace... More

Not a place to write home about for its service but the very simple idea of selling just wine and port with some simple fare like cheese platter etc has been one that has been popular for more than 150 years. It is very very crowded and you take you chance of finding a seat but once you have found... More
