Cosy pub off the river!

Service is great, people are great, staff is great! Always pop in for a drink after work - great for hanging out with friends and a chat with the staff. Very welcoming and friendly! Will definitely be back!

Hi Alfieconnspurs Thank you for your kind comments, although it would seem I need to sharpen up the staff training. Any chance you could email the black lion with a little more information about the "hit n miss" aspect so I can sort? regards More

I haven't had the full works here; just a main course at the bar, but if my belly of pork with a bean mash was anything to go by, the food at this quirky little pub won't disappoint. The pork belly was juicy and mainly meat rather than fat. and the bean mash was very tasty. The other vegetables were... More

Our Canoe Club booked the Skittles Alley for a Christmas Lunch this past weekend. The universal opinion was that it was fantastic on a number of levels: the quality fo the food; the friendliness of the staff; that we were all served the correct selections and at the same time; and importnatly for me everyone's food was piping hot!. Highly... More

Lovely pub by the river (not overlooking, just next to it). I went for a nice walk from Hammersmith tube over bridge & looped over Barnes bridge with my dog & then happily arrived here as we approached Hammersmith again!! Friendly pub with good food. Private 'skittles alley' is a great area & the expansive area outside to picnic tables... More

We had not been to the pub for some time and were expecting it to be bustling and a s busy as normal on a Sunday lunchtime. It soon became apparent that there had been a change of manager from the highly competent and engaging New Zealander who ran it before ably supported by fellow New Zealand staff. On arrival,... Dear Guy Thank you very much for your very direct feedback. This really is not how we want to be remembered and certainly not how we want to treat our customers. I'm personally mortified - I've never been called surly in my life before! Please get in touch and we will be delighted to show you how it normally is... More

This is by far the best pub I've been in years. Amazing outdoor space with plenty of activities to keep you entertained, from table tennis to bowling to just simply enjoying the good weather and riverside atmosphere with a pint or wine from their vast selection. There's also farmers market on Saturday, followed by Saturday's Black Lion BBQ, Sunday roasts,... More

When I lived in Short Road in Chiswick this was by far my favourite local. It's fantastic river-side location and it's mixture of contemporary design with traditional pub interior made it a obvious choice. It had a very distinctive Kiwi accent when I last visited. I enjoyed this but sometimes it was too pervasive and there was a bit of... More

A fantastic pub situated on the river with large garden. Spent most of the day in the large garden in the sun, such a good atmosphere, tasty food and friendly staff.

After a nice walk by the river, the Black Lion is such a nice place to stop to have a drink! There's a very cozy atmosphere to the pub that makes you feel right at home. My parents were visiting and we took them here for some traditional Sunday roasts, and it proved to be the perfect place to do... More
